Depending on your fabrication skills, you could probably make any swingarm work but I think you need a 98-09 for the easiest conversion.

BTW, $400 is f'ing retarded. I sell those all the time for around $200. If you're serious about doing the mod, let me know and I'll sell you one the next time I get a VFR in.

7th gen is 10+ (the new 1200)

I do not know what swingarm is best. I have read that this conversion will increase your wheelbase a bit. Do a search, there are some good threads on this.

5th gen (98-01) provides the least change in wheelbase. This IS NOT just a bolt-on modification. You'll need some new suspension parts, new rear header, plug up 2nd brake hose, new rear wheel, etc.
The swingarm in the pic is 4th gen (94-97) version.
