Watsen design Signals - resistors

Just installed some watsen design rear indicators ont he SH yesterday and had a quick question. How hot do these resistors get? I'm referring to the module that slows the blink rate. They seem to heat up pretty quick and the instructions say not to "affix" them to anything plastic. Don't want to start a fire here and trying to fihure out the best place for them. I could attach them to the subframe if that might dissipate the heat - or would that be a bad idea?
BTW - fit and finish on these signals is top notch - as you would ecpect from the price tag! really bright.

Thanks.

I'd recommend you use one of these: http://www.cyclegear.com/spgm.cfm?L1...tem=MRX_FRH1_G . Save you the trouble of finding a location of damn hot resistors.

MM, I tried to follow the link you posted and it reports "invalid item number". I do not know why attaching to the sub would not be an ok location but that's my .02

Oops. Try again: http://www.cyclegear.com/spgm.cfm?L1...tem=MRX_FRH1_G

I'm not saying resistors on your subframe isn't okay, the aftermarket relay is just a cleaner fix. More expensive, though. Hey, whatever works, so long as it's safe.

Okay, okay! Not only does the link work but my brain just kicked in too! Resistor versus relay. Resistor is natually going to heat up because it's like a roadblock for electricity and the byproduct is heat. The relay is a switch and the only byproduct is darkness.

Aaaand you're in there like swimwear.

okay. so i'm off to cycle gear today to pick up my new part. I must admit. For the arm i had to sell to get these freakin signals they should have thrown a blinker module in the deal. The resitors are just little crappy ceramic ones and they do heat up quite a bit.
what's another $25 when you've spent over $200 on turn signals? Man it makes my stomach hurt - BUT. Think of how safe they are, visible, great investment in my health - and you really cannot put a price on that. (just practicing incase the wife finds the invoice or something)
Thanks guys. Later.

I have the Watsen signals on the front. Wired up the resistors and set them in the fairing where it folds back up on itself. No problems. No need to spend an extra 25 bucks to do it "right" and the kit is great right out of the box.

got module from cycle gear. less wires and crap on the bike. seems like a cleaner fix. will instal front signals and module today. also have new superhawk 996 stickers from tapeworks to put on. I got the reflective black for the logo on the front fairing. Should look pretty cool at night.

Would you mind sharing your source for purchase of the Watsen LED's? Also part numbers if available.

When will you be posting pics? I am looking into getting them for the front, did you get some for the rear as well?

I don't know. I was not planning on posting pics but i'd be happy to take some and send to you. please email me at drew@ddpt.com and I'll take some for you.

You can order from the Watsen design web site - http://www.watsendesign.com/index.html

I'm lucky though, I live in Calgary where these are made and will be able to pick mine up in person :)
