To vinyl wrap, or not to vinyl wrap?

So, been giving some thought to possibly vinyl wrapping my forks black. Had it on before but (foolishly) peeled it off so am now debating whether I should re-do them...

Picture taken this morning (started right away after winter in storage, woohoo!):

so, yes or no to vinyl wrapping forks?

As long as you're asking, I say no.

mikstr 04-23-2017 10:58 AM

thanks

Wolverine 04-23-2017 11:22 AM

I say no too. I like the highlight of the more modern USD fork.

VTR1000F 04-23-2017 11:49 AM

Yah-huh. But we're Americans. We make bold statements. Remember, mikstr, you're Canadian and if you want a more pedestrian look, you want your bike to look like every other VTR on the road, then wrap 'em.

mikstr 04-23-2017 12:01 PM

we're Canadians, the mighty beavers - we'll gnaw away at ya until we win :)

Jack Flash 04-23-2017 06:14 PM

Kinda of on the fence on this one. I like the modern look, but would be nice black also.

Well, I guess I'm no help. ;)

I like the gold cause it let's you see the suspension. It's not a piece of bolt-on bling, it's a major component and that's how it came. Black, it'll get lost visually in the shadows of the front end.

I just have a thing for gold suspension components, too. Don't have any, just the thing for em.

Besides, on mikstr's bike, just painting them black seems a cop-out. Now, if you could find some carbon fiber forks, then we'd be talkin'.

sadly, the only bike to come with carbon forks was the last generation NR500...

yep.....did the NR ever amount to anything?

I rest my case....

Oh yes, and that engine has too many cylinders... losers!

VTR1000F 04-23-2017 09:40 PM

Winning color scheme, though.

kenmoore 04-24-2017 03:05 AM

When I did my USD I wrapped the gold in black electrical tape to see what it looked like.

They are still gold, but then I am a bling monster!

smokinjoe73 04-24-2017 06:17 AM

If its a vote I say stay gold. Looks better. Didn't know anyone who had gold wanted black, thought it was just the other way round.

Wolverine 04-24-2017 06:21 AM

Although I have [I]never[I], you know the saying... once you go black, you never go back.

Badboy01 04-24-2017 05:36 PM

My vote is stay with GOLD....

Joe, didn't you know all the new fashion trends are coming from down under.
Soon you'll see top dollar Olins black.

smokinjoe73 04-24-2017 07:28 PM

No way man, ohlins is gold. Heck even my elka race shock it gold.

I am going to cbr forks but secretly wish I was putting on the gold zx10 tubes.

Yes he does. He's now shopping for carbon gas and oil.

VTR1000F 05-26-2022 09:10 AM

I can't imagine what his carbon footprint must be. I'm sure he's dragging down the rest of the northern hemisphere.
