Stock Undertray Cracked
1 Attachment(s)
Was riding with a group today, leading the way, and the rider behind me told me my trunk was falling down. I checked it out and it was about an inch low. Once I got back home I looked under the seat and found the stock undertray was cracking! Did a halfway fix for now with zip ties, which I hate to do, will have to look for a more permanent fix later. Also noticed the flexing cracked the fender eleiminator kit :(:(:(

Never seen one crack there before. You can easily plastic weld that back together.
|
I agree, surely plastic weld can fix it. The cause of crack could be due to vibration.

My R6 did that to me a few years ago. A couple heavy duty zipties did the trick!
|
Not supported enough, and then flex and vibrations.
Repair, add some structural additions (mold in some additional material) and then add some more support |
Wake up call. Have you considered skipping the second pizza and six pack?

I weigh 155... Which is why i'm still using the stock rear spring...

Dang both you need to eat a sammich. Kidding. I hate hearing that line. 6'1" at 155 here and I hear that crap all the time. Yet a pizza and a 6 pack does sound good right now and it's only 8:35 am here haha.

I repair automobile bumpers that are cracked quite often. 3M makes a epoxy designed for plastics called Automix that works wonders. If applied correctly the plastic repair is bullet proof. The catch is its expensive (about 40 bucks a tube although one tube gets me about 5 to 8 repairs) and I believe if it were me I would just source one on ebay for 60 bucks or so (I recently checked since I really want to bob my fender and keep my original unmodded).

Thank you for the reply!
I think i'll eventually try to find a stock undertray, then cut it myself. I never liked how the previous owner cut this tray, it put a lot of weight on the mounting tabs, and they cut off where it connects to the taillight... This caused the taillight to bounce, so i removed the rubber mounts for the taillight.... One bad mod lead to another... James |
