Side fairings

I have seen side fairings that only mount to the frame to cover the radiators and front frame ie: leaves neck and forks explosed. I'm looking for something like that for mine. I love the naked look, but want to add more color to the bike.

Most of the side fairings that you see are custom pieces made by the owner (very often from the OEM fairings). I am not aware of any aftermarket setup that you can buy to do this.

I've always wanted to try something out along the lines of building scoops that completely cover the radiator and create some sort of "ram air" from the front of the bike, with some sort of integration to the front headlight. now that would be cool. kind of what the vmax's have going on.

The trick (trouble) with that is that the headlight will move with the forks (for most nakeds, anyway), while the rads stay with the frame. Hard to integrate them. So you'd have to make a one-piece design that lets the forks turn inside of it. That's what the stock setup is, so think of the stock fairing, with the headlight/gauges removed, and a new headlight/fairing piece added in. Sounds like you'd need a CAD model to me, or many attempts trial and error. Hell, it's hard enough cramming everything in there with a headlight as it is (I know). But it would be cool, give it a shot!
