Replacement fairings

Don't know if this has been posted before.

Looks like they finally realized that there are plenty of SH/FS riders who might enjoy some cheap replacement plastics.

Actually, that price seems pretty fair for shipping such a bulky item...

But, for the coin, it's just.....ok.

Ah yes, you can also order just the one piece you need. You don't need to order
the whole kit. Just have to ask seller.

$460 is still cheaper than what you will pay for the comparable Sharkskinz.

Jack, I understand what you are saying. I do know, that Sharkskinz are more to OEM standards for thickness and quality.

I only posted, because I know that there was discussion in the past about the lack of fairings offered for the SH. It was Sharkskinz or OEM. Well, here ya go, for those wanting an inexpensive replacement option, in REPSOL colors or many others.

Not necessarily advocating the purchase of these, or the quality, just that they are now available for those who might be looking.

I'm with you on this. I ordered for 150$ shipped, the rear seat cowl, since the only thing in original out there (ebay) were many times disasters that needed endless fixing (cracks everywhere, rash and scraps, missing fins, etc) So, I figuered I'd order from one of these guys in China, and save coin. My part has a few light waves in the finish, but was lucky with the
holes....they actually aligned pretty well.
One of my friends with a chicken also, ordered the complete kit, and we had to refit the two side faings, and the front light holder part. Once again, on some pieces, very light waves in the finish.

If you don't stand too close, looks great, and I guess that's what counts for the price.

All told, those kits total out to like $500 and can take up to 2-1/2 months to get in. I'm in the middle of 'glassing my whole bike thanks to my roommate joyriding (and sliding) mine.

I'd get a new roommate instead....much cheaper.

Sucks when someone else breaks your personal things. That always
makes me mad.

If a roommate of mine took a joyride on my bike, he'd be homeless, broke and in need of medical attention if he didn't pay me cash what I considered fair, then and there... I'd consider taking his ***** in a jar, as collateral if he had a hard time paying up front, but that would be his choice...

Just saying...

I'm in need of both left and right fairings. Which will cost me $780. Was debating on getting this entire kit as well

In this instance, I'd say go look at the sharkskinz. It about $350 or so for the complete street upper fairing.

STREET UPPER (VTR1000)

$345 unpainted, and I think you might need the headlight bracket kit. There are not turn signal holes, so you could relocate hat you have, or buy something new.

A matching lower would be another $254.

The Sharks is a really nice unit, and as Erik previously mentioned, they fit perfectly. The only issue I have with them is if ever you have a fall, or like in my case a few weeks ago, extremely hot asphalt, and a slightly slated parking lot, found my bike on it's side.. Thank God I invested in a set of T-Rex sliders.

Ok, back to issue at hand, like me, you find your bike on it's side, and you have the Sharks on, repair may be more tedious, and wished for, then a complete replacement. If you have to replace the fairing, cost rises up, and paint job also.

If you invest in the Chinese unit, well, it may not be perfect, however, you will be able to replace the part that is damaged only. This obviously brings repair costs down if you are unlucky with your bike.

To clarify, you can order just the part you need. You do not have to purchase the complete kit as advertised. Just have to write to the seller on what you need, and he will quote you on that said part only.

Just food for thought.
