Race Tail Section Subframe Mod and more to come
3 Attachment(s)
This is part 1 in a redo of my SH which will include a R1 front end, rims, dunlops D616 tires, Moto Guzzi 1/4 fairing, renthal bars, custom top tree and risers, and much more. I started from the rear in order to define the lines of the bike. Pics:

Looks good so far
|
Do you have any full bike pic with that sub frame on it
|
That looks really good. Will you be using a tail light? If so what do you plan on using?

I'm using a 1940 Chevy tail light w/ a couple LED clusters. I started making tabs for the coil, brake reservoir, starter solenoid, regulator, etc, and mocking up for the aluminum skin.

Here is a thread that will give you all the info you will ever need about this subject:
https://www.superhawkforum.com/forum...why-how-25117/ You can also get the new replacement for the R1 R/R as a kit from the same manufacturor, it works really well and will outlast the bike: Shindengen MOSFET FH020AA Regulator Rectifier Kit Replaces FH012AA | eBay This is one of the two most common biggest issues on these bikes that may end up very costly, the other one is CCT's, it is recommended by many to give these two items preventive measures. |
NOOOOOOO!!!
http://f.cl.ly/items/0R2w0m1c3r0l1W0...-R-R-small.jpg This'll be an improvement, or use the MOSFET mod Honda CBR600F4 1999 99 CBR 600 F4 Rectifier Voltage Regulator Free Shipping | eBay |
Very interesting mods....not sure on looks now, but the quality of work looks excellent. Keep up the work & keep posting up progress pics.

I love the dual Yoshis I have but decided on a 2-1 setup w/ the single can shortened to 14" to keep with the skinny look I want to achieve. I bought some 2" bends and cut and pasted for the mid pipe. I am looking to buy a Miller Diversion 180 soon but for now my buddy will get all this welded up got me. Once welded I can make the hanger. I already turned the bungs, one with a urethane sleeve to dampen the vibration. Thanks BTW for the help with the RR.

And here's a side view of finished rear section (still needs powdercoat). I doesn't flow with the front at all, but if you read my first post you'll know what is coming next: aluminum side skins and Moto Guzzi 1/4 fairing w/ 5" headlight, new wheels, inverted FE, custom top tree, renthals, and trail tech speedo/tach.

it looks way better when the whole bike is naked
with front fairing on it doesn't doit for me |
Overall you are very close... but for me..... the rads in that OEM location on a naked bike always scream..... "I crashed, and cant afford to fix, so not it be a street fighter"
You have done great work, and paid attention to detail...consider relocating the rads or converting to a single. |

You have done great work, and paid attention to detail...consider relocating the rads or converting to a single. There's so much space above the rear wheel now, the radiator could go there like some others here have done. If I were more ambitious I'd convert mine to a naked like yours. |

Here's how she's looked for the past 6 months. I've been putting miles on her and can't put her away even today dec 31st it's 75 degrees out here in Cali. I'll be putting a Moto guzzi fairing on w/ two 3-3/4" Hellas and I'm going to tuck the rads in just a bit and put an aluminum skin around just to make the bike look more finished and not just crashed and removed. Looking good, a small fairing will really finish it off, especially if you skin the radiators.
You will have a unique bike when it's done. I like to keep mine on the road while doing mods as well. Not much point in having a bike if you can't ride it eh!!! What sort of front end are you thinking of using? |
It's great to see a cafe Hawk, Wompy. I can't wait to see it when it's done.
|
Looks cool ,I 've wondered about putting small Buell type scoops on the rads
|
Here is a suggestion,I think why dont you place the orig fairing back on.
But cut it just below the 996 superhawk sticker, this allows you to still have a tab attached to frame.(ie bikini fairing) Then get a custom single rad for the front,it would tidy up frontend and complement the custom rear. |
With the R1 inverted front end I'm planning to put on, I tried mocking up a cardboard front radiator but doesn't seem to fit. I have a larger oil cooler I'm planning using anyway and I really don't mind the two radiators. It has folks scratching their heads that aren't familiar with the SH. Skinned with some nice mesh screen I know I can make it look the business.
