Pyramid Lower heat concerns
 

So I finally got off my butt and painted and installed my lower and it looks great however I let the bike sit and idle for a few minutes to check hot spots. The very bottom center from the downpipe cutout back about 7" is alarmingly hot on the surface. This is right below both pipes. I am thinking about cutting a rectanglular hole there or possible findimg some adhesive metal heat insulation.
Are these fiberglass lowers able to take this kind of heat that is too hot to touch? I doubt the paint can handle it. What did you Pyramid owners do or is it even an issue worth worrying about?https://cimg2.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.sup...cc7c4c5723.jpg

Get some of that adhesive heat barrier and cover the inside.

iv had the same bellypan on my yellow for a few years and its never had any problems with the heat...

I bought a sheet of this. There was only the hot spot on the bottom flat part where both pipes ran side by side and maybe at the downpipe cutout. This should work perfectly.

I had a set of headers ceramic coated and that helped as well..

I wrapped the pipes with exhaust wrap too. It helps but I still need the heat shield. Thanks for the reminder.

Use Thermo-Tec head shield. When I built my GSXR600 I put it inside the lower fairing because I didn't want to ruin my new paint. The header was less than an inch from the Sharkskinz and was only warm to the touch on the outside. Where the header was several inches away with no heat barrier it was red hot. Believe it has an adhesive backing but being my Sharkskinz were fiberglass I also painted resin over it.

Just to update. I did order a sheet of the Thermo tec adhesive barrier and it worked like a charm. I have been doing automotive paint professionally for over 20 years and I know there is no way that paint would have lasted long term. I got a bigger sheet not really knowing how little I would need so I have plenty leftover. I may have over did it but like I said I had plenty of material. Definately a must if you run this lower.
PS...my lower is a fiberglass knockoff copy of Pyramid's belly pan so maybe it doesn't deflect heat as well as a original Pyramid fairing does.https://cimg5.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.sup...01d76fc15e.jpg
