Painting a 2003 Superhawk question

My friend wants to buy a Sharkskins 1 Piece Lower for his 2003 VTR 1000. I contacted my Local dealer for paint codes and this is what I wrote back to my friend

"I contacted Cedar Creek to get the paint code #, and they are going to call me back or so they said so, so when you give it to a auto shop they will know the paint mixture. The only thing he told me is that honda will give you the # but wont tell you how or what kind of clear coat they use and that can alter the look alittle but Im hoping a body shop guy (who are usually good at this shit) can match it well".

Any comments on this please feel free to help in any way.

Thanks

Paints are a matched system. The body shop will use the clear made for the paint they use. AFAIK, they don't and won't mix match brands or lines, etc.

They have the closest match. There are tons of recent threads that will have the correct paint number you're looking for. As for the clear, I'm not a painter but I can't imagine it would matter which you use, er, being clear and all.
