Normal Bolt? / Frame Sliders

3 Attachment(s)
Hola all.
Just put on the t-rex frame sliders now (couple pics because I couldn't find a decent one before I bought them). Anyway as you can see from the pic of the bolts, the funky one came out of the left side. I'm hoping that this crud is some sort of locktite, but it's not on the threads?? Not wet at all. Looks kinda like battery post corrosion.
Anyone else run across this condition? This is an '05 w/ 7300 miles.(I'm hoping not to hear that I have a leak somewhere).
Thanks!

My bolts have the same corrosion on them. I think it is simply oxidation from from the aluminum in the motor cases plus some corrosion on the bolts themselves.

mine did not look like that but it could just be from moisture sitting in there? I would not worry to much

Mine looked like that when I installed my LSL's. I wouldn't worry about it since it is probably from moisture from sitting somewhere.

mine had the same corrosion. Just moisture and two dissimilar metals that cause a reaction dont worry

Excellent. I'll be able to sleep now. Thanks!

My linkage bolts looked like that when I put the Penske on mine. I polished them clean and glazed a coating of STP on them and reassembled everything. Steel and aluminum don't like each other!

Commonly known as galvanic corrosion. Entirely normal.

Bicycles have the same issue. The common cure is to put a light coating of grease or never-seize on everything. Of course, if it's something that doesn't need to slide you have to consider that.

I have been looking for frame sliders that require no cutting and those look good where did you get those from???

there is a product called no-lox its a corrosion preventative found in the electrical department at home depot. Its made to be used on aluminum wire when being secured in aluminum lugs. It's supposed to prevent that kind if corrosion. a small squeeze bottle is about 5 bucks. however if you know an electrician you might be able to get some for free.
