naked naked naked!
Hey folks, I have been pondering the idea lately of getting something a little more comfy/upright (bandit, hornet, etc...) then I figured why would I ever ditch the super tourqy fun of the superhawk?! I was cruizing the net and found exactly what I was looking to get for looks...
1998 Honda Superhawk $2000 OBO - Sportbikes.net Just wanted some input from folks who may have already tried this exact swap? Would the headlight/mounts all work from a cb919? Anything that would swap straight over? Or am I looking at a whole custom job...? I want to drop the clip ons and get some handle bars (super bars, something with a very low rise 2" or less) any help would be appreciated! |
Yep, lots of folks have gone naked. I bought my headlight setup for <$100 on Ebay and am still using the stock front end. If you don’t mind drilling into your yoke, you can run risers off of all kinds of bikes – dirt bikes, street fighters, naked bikes – and buy a bar to get whatever bar height you want.
Ditching the side radiators is a bit of a PIA. I believe the VTR in your picture has an early CBR radiator cut down a row or two, but I wouldn’t trust that to keep the bike cool. People have run big cruiser radiators (VTX1800?) under the seat to go completely naked, but I’ve started to see a lot of RC-51s running two small radiators in the front and I think it would be possible to run one of the VTR rads in the front and the other under the seat to clean things up. You want to look up Superbling for bar conversion and Kai Ju for the under-the-seat rad conversion… CR |
