Looks really good archaicguy. Do you have an estimated price on each set?
|
These look really familiar! We paid $50 for the set 10 years ago. Don't forget the cost of hardware too. We had several washers, a bolt, and a locknut. I believe the washers are of the curved variety so you could still pivot at the hinge, but be able to get it just the right stiffness. Oh, and I recommend some kind of corrosion resistant and BLACK hardware. Stainless, zinc oxide, or otherwise looks crappy against the black.

The cost really is based on the components used. I am thinking about 30 a pair or so for forum members on the powder coatwd ones. I am also going to do some in anodize. I will send two sets to a local processor next week and have one set done in black anodize and one set black hardcoat anodize to see how they turn out.... I expect them to be great and of course the first set of hard coat anodize I will be keeping but can also do more. I can also do a color anodize if enough people want a specific color to make it cost effective for me.

I have really been wanting to buy a lower fairing for my hawk so I hope to roll any profits right back into my hawk. Lower fairing, projector headlight, new tire, chain and sprockets.
|
I would like to get the first couple sets to members in the southern communities that can still do some riding this time of year and give them some road tests so if there are any improvements needed I will know early on. As far as weight goes it weighs between 5 and 6 ounces per set. Weighed about .9 lbs before and weighed 1.03 lbs after.
|
I'm definitely in for a set if they're $30/pair...those look like great work!
|
Count me in. I ride all winter as long as it's dry out.

Has anyone tried these? They're supposed to push the mirrors out one inch.
I've had them on my bike for 2 years and they are complete poo. They move the mirrors *up* about 3/4ths inch, but don't improve the view at all over the stock mirrors. Don't waste your time or money on these. |

Hi guys, just fitted these, made in Turkey I think. Cost around 30 dollars.
After having a near one overtaking a car I had to try something. I am a small fellow so it might be different for others but I recon these could save my life someday. Much better view, but they don't look very professional. Would love the ones at start of this thread. :| Attachment 25122 |
Just an update....... I will be sending the first couple sets out for processing monday or tuesday, The hardware I ordered (Stainless steel black oxide coated bolts and lock washers) should be in mid week so I am expecting to have the first couple sets ready at the end of the week. I will post pics of the finished product on my bike when completed.

Well, I FINALLY got them just before New Year. Look fine. I'll try to get off my butt tomorrow and put them on and take a few pics. Communication from the seller wasn't the best, but they did let me know they were backordered, so it's all good there.
From another post it sounds like they went up in price? From bolt center to center is 2 inches, which is pretty much what I wanted. Great deal for $30, but as someone else pointed out, they've now gone up to $65, which seems like a lot of moola for what you're getting, no matter how well made. The pics of my bike here are before putting the extenders on ... I'll have another post in a few minutes with the "after" shots. |
