Etching my swingarm

Etching my swingarm
Has anyone thought of etching parts on their bike? I looked online and didn't see anything. I've done knives and such in the past. Decided to try it on the bike and it turned out OK I think. Shoot me some feedback, all it takes is a battery charger, steel wool and saltwater.

It looks ok, and just me perhaps, but all can think of when i see that is, "wear" I wold be looking at to decide if the part was still serviceable . I see the protective anodize coating gone.
It does look unique and I kind of like it, but Im too much of a mechanic, machinist, pretend engineer to let it go at "It does look good" , and it does.

HUH! That is very interesting. Your finished results look good. I'm a bit surprised at the consistancy of the depth of the etch. A new twist on graphics.
BTY tell me you didn't learn this technique at Gitmo.

It's nothing but running your fingers over the surface every few seconds. BTW on steel parts use a q tip or cotton ***** dipped in salt water since steel is more conductive, steel wool on aluminum. But keep the steel wool soaking wet to reduce sparks. Mask off surrounding areas well to keep other areas from etching from running saline solution.

Looking good. How sturdy are the rear pegs spaced out like that? I've been considering doing the same with TBR hangers, but have been concerned about them holding up to a passenger climbing on & off.

They'd have to snap a grade 10 bolt to break em, and the inside would touch the cans before that. But I haven't had any issues as yet.

years ago (previous vtr) I had the spaced out oem pegs like yours, never had a problem. At some point I recall finding a set of gsxr600 passenger pegs that had a different shape, allowing for a good fitment with the high mount pipes. I had to reem out the holes just a little bit and then they fit. Does anyone else recall this mod?
