gixxer tail swap
 

alright guys, ive had a few messages asking for pictures of the swap and the sub frame, so as i had to replace the regulator the other day i snapped a few pics from my blackberry.

we ended up using a gixxer subframe, aluminum vs steel so its a bit lighter, and it had to be shortened aswell and all the mounting tabs done get used. also the way this one is mounted the seat sits a couple inches higher but i actually find it to be alot more comfortable than the stock riding position.

also the way we fit this tail with the aftermarket undertail we couldnt retain the factory mounting points so those were filled in and we ended up just mounting it at the top with a couple of acorn nuts. theyre gonna get covered in something black eventually, for now im not too concerned. the tail is in there and doesnt move, we ended up drilling holes in the bottom and mounting it to the undertail so it doesnt move at all.

i still need to yank the seat and remove a little plastic from the front and re wrap it to get rid of the wrinkling

also the tail had to be trimmed just behind the seat about an inch so that the seat would fit in there properly, and the unfortunate part is that because of the moving and what not the tail doesnt sit as snug as we wanted it to under the seat, but in reality it was never meant to fit this bike or to follow its curved and thats how it sits which im fine with.

couple shots with it and the undertail, it lines up good enough for what i want, its a track tail so its not the best example of fit but its not a show bike so im not too concerned with it
