exhaust flanges

So I live in good ol' New England so rust is very abundant:shock:.. Needless to say my exhaust flanges for bolting the header pipes to the engine are so rusted they are starting to flake.. I would like to replace them but as we all know they are one piece flanges and need to be cut off therefore leaving me with a small predicament..

I work at a parts store part time and the only option I know of is to replace it with a multi part piece assuming I can find the right size (shouldnt be a problem). However I havent checked on the material of these (heading there in few minutes) and am looking for a semi permanent solution.

has anyone had to replace theirs? if so is this the only option available? I know I can paint them to prolong the life.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated

I know I found somewhere that had S.S 2 piece flanges that were available for just about every bike I've ever seen. It was 2 "c" shaped pieces that bolted together with dowel pins and a locking structure, it was like $100/collar.

Problem is that I don't have the site anymore! So I'll look for it on my old desktop, but if you do end up making something, it would be pretty easy.

well I checked out the 2 piece flanges at the parts store but I dont think they go small enough... lucky for me I work at the parts store and can probably order some. the only problem is they arent stainless so theyre just gonna rust even if I paint them. Im sure I can find a reputable exhaust place with some but I also have to go to the local honda/suzuki dealer tomorrow to pick up some parts I ordered and ill see what they say..

$100/collar is about $90 over what I want to spend but if you can find the site though I will definitely check out what they have...

Id prefer buying them locally but if ordering them is what it takes then I guess I have to... but I still have a few parts places to check out.

How about changing the complete front exhaust bit?
Plenty of those on ebay or with part-sellers?

Forget the flanges.

Is this the part you are looking for?

That's for the rear cylinder.

I'd be handy to have a two piece as I had to buy a new (second-hand) header because the front clamp had corroded

well i cleaned and painted my header pipes last night, I was gonna coat the header wrap but it was damaged and I cant afford to rewrap them right now.. both flanges are usable for the time being but the front one was pretty corroded..

I would buy new header pipes if I had the cash to spend but I plan on having a custom true dual system made this winter..

either way i do know that someone somewhere has split flanges made out of stainless cuz I really dont want to have to buy all new header pipes when the ones I have are perfectly fine..

Mine are corroding and starting to soften and bend a little bit. I'd also be interested in a two-piece flange, but a simple google search was fruitless. Anybody want to make me some??
