Corbin seat needs to be recovered

My Corbin seat is busting some of the seams, so it needs to be repaired or recovered comepletely.

I'm just wondering what you guys have done/where you have gone to get seats recovered or repaired, and how much you've paid.

Anyone have experience/care to pipe up?

I would just send it back to Corbin and have them recover it for you. As long as you have the seat pan, your half way there.

As long as you have your seat pan, you are only 25% there according to Corbin. From Corbin's website

I just heard back from Corbin; the cost to recover this seat will be $249.00 + $31.00 return freight. So $280 and they say 4-6 weeks.

I found a place in San Fran that will do it for $180 + Shipping, but I'm going to try some local places too.

I took mine to a local auto upholstery shop when I was in Sierra Vista, AZ. I asked around for which local shop did the best custom interiors, and ran it by there. Guy copied the seat pattern from the old one using marine vinyl instead of leather, took him about a week, cost me $100. I gave him $120.

Bought a cover from L-P, and a local shop installed it for $30 (for my F-4.)

Was that a stock seat or a Corbin? I can't find any covers that are close to the corbin profile, they only seem to make seat covers for stock seats.

If you're going to spend that much, you may as well get a Sargent and be done with it for the rest of the bike's life.

The point is to NOT spend that much. If a new seat is $300-$400, I shouldn't cost $200+ to recover it.
I'm still trying local shops, but if all fails, I'll attempt it myself, and If I kill it, Have it done by a pro for $180.

Back in the day I had a Honda CX650 Custom. Took the seat to an upholster shop. Had a little Vietnamese guy there that did a stock look with all new material. $65.

My roomate was an upholsterer, so find a competent one and that should work well. Having been a leather worker myself, I would avoid plastic in favor of leather as it breathes and will be much more comfortable when it's warm and you're sweating. Ask him how many bike seats he's done.
