Corbin Backrest stuck?

The short question is (as I almost made this 3 pages long); does the bolt holding the backrest into a Corbin seat go all the way through to the other side and attach to something?

The bolt was frozen so I cut off the head and drilled down to the backrest's aluminum bar, but it still doesn't seem to want to come out. It is definitely somewhat loose as I can wiggle the bar back and forth, but it just doesn't come out. I haven't been able to figure this out from pictures on the net thus far...

Thanks for any help!

bolton: My backrest bolt hole doesn't go the whole way through the post. So to answer your question, no it doesn't. It is a tight fit. Mine requires some wiggling so keep trying.

I spent some time tugging and twisting and it didn't come out. Drilled it out and apparently it does go through all the way plus some (about 5 mm)!

It may have been a replacement bolt that went farther through but it looks like it was meant to. There is an obvious hole on the opposite side to receive a bolt. Makes sense to me to have it that way too.

May have been a different year of production or something...
