Clock for older Hawks

Has anyone on here added a digital clock for their Superhawks? I'd love to have one riding and need some ideas. If so what kind did you use/where did you put it?

Casio wrist watch. Top tripple. Simple.

There are A LOT more expensive ways to get a clock though. Different gauges, Rolex, etc.

Cool picture.

If you go with the Rolex, I recommend a submariner variant for obvious reasons.

I did this..( or one like it..its been awhile..)0 4" Blue LED Digital Time Clock 24 Hour Time Mode DC 7 30V for Auto Car Motor | eBay

Basically sits between the windscreen and top of the gauges in a custom housing..Power from the little third eye...

Yes, simple. that's exactly what I did. Self adhesive velcro to hold it in place.

Depending on my mood, I sometimes take this one off my neck (held on by gold painted clothes line) and fix it to my bike. I get a lot of looks. People totally think I'm a playa. It's awesome. I don't worry nuttin' 'bout the gauges, because I'm flossin' so slow, I don't need 'em!

Check out formotionproducts. I have a round one made by them, great quality. I used 3M double sided tape to my top triple clamp.

I tired the watch deal, but disliked having to find and push a button to activate the light at night.

Really want a hard wired, backlight, water resistant light with digits as large as the bigger Timex offerings (Timex Ironman Triathlon series has large digits i can see without glasses)

Anyone?

I think a watch would look a little tacky on the triple. I'd like something that maybe goes on top of the gauge cluster, and turns on whenever the bike is on. I have a double-bubble windscreen so there's plenty of room up there.

E. Marquez.. I like where your going with that, wish they had it in red though.

CruxGNZ- It might look better if you use some double sided clear tape and tape it right on your helmet windscreen!

VTR1000F 05-04-2015 10:30 AM

eBay has digital clocks in all the colors.

They have them in all sorts of colors, and as pointed out, many other providers have them in different shapes and colors as well.

I wanted one that was weather resistant (many are not with exposed battery or other components)
I wanted one with the smallest "case" I could get.. not small overall, but just as little surrounding the LED as possible.
I wanted for the first try a backlit version... as for me they are easiest to see in all light conditions, and many times the LED lights are way too bright at night when they are red and blue.

I just ordered the one you linked to in post #10..

I think this one will look like it's supposed to be there, and hopefully match the rest of the cluster good. Now I need to figure out where to wire this up at.

Hopefully I get it before the AMA Superbike weekend at Road America in Elkhart Lake.. Anybody else heading there?? MotoAmerica (AMA/FIM) SUBWAY Superbike Doubleheader | Elkhart Lake's Road America, Inc.

I received my clock in the mail yesterday, not sure if I like it or not, plus i'm not to thrilled about wiring it up to the bike. I ordered another one today that is battery operated, so no back light. But I will be able to just stick in on somewhere, probably underneath the mph gauge, and not mess with the wiring.

No light makes it all but useless to me....

What is the issue with hard wiring it? It's a simple two wire hook up.

An inline fuse is also recommended with the preferably fed from a ignition switched circuit; i.e., the instrument lights.

Well inline fuse or use a aftermarket fuse block like the one I have from FZ1..
FUZEBLOCKS.COM

Gone are the days you need to have several wires attached to a battery and several relays added..
One device does it all.

jjansenrs 05-12-2015 02:26 PM

Wiring is my enemy, I hate it. I can do it, but I hate it. It would be nice to have the back light but were do I hard wire it to? On mine there is three wires.

E.Marquez 05-28-2015 06:06 PM

Well that did not work out so well

Both chinese clocks are dead.
the black one with remote switch would not power on, light worked but nothing from the clock circuit.
The clear one with blue LED, powered on, lights up... BUT resets it self going down the road or anytime the light is turned on. Then after about 45 min on the first test ride.. the light was steady but LCD clock digits were flaking in and out.

Mehh that's what i get for buying $3 clocks.

Man I am glad I did it the easy way and grafted on the 600RR dash. Clock, gas gauge, digital temp and speedo in just a few short weeks of work.

VTR1000F 05-28-2015 08:24 PM

And a HUD. Kind of.

The hard part is riding upside down. Would really suck for those with inverseverticalitis.

VTR1000F 05-28-2015 08:40 PM

I think Kenmore may have something to say about that.

smokinjoe73 05-28-2015 08:40 PM

You just have to read upside down.

Sad part is the red digits are the temp in F degrees. I sure do LOVE summertime.
