Anyone powder coated their right crank case cover?

I think it would look awesome, my powder coater says he can do a two tone black and red but I am unsure about the safety of the oil sight glass.

Anyone ever done this?

I welded on mine close to the sight glass. Got it well above the 400 decrees that the pewdercoat oven will. It might have damaged the rubber seal but I doubt it. Still havent filled it with oil but I will in the next few days and report back here.

If my oven were bigger I would have powdercoated my case

I plan on powdercoating mine, I'll let you know how it goes.

Thanks guys, looking forward to hearing from you. Also, when it comes to removing the cover you just drain the oil and unbolt it right? Is there anything else I need to be wary of?

Thanks in advance.

most likely the gasket will cause it to stick.

But fortunately honda was gracious enough to cast tabs that let you pry the cover. Look at the rear near the swingarm pivot.

Once off you will unbolt the ignition pickup sensor from the cover and the dampening plate inside. Mine was extremely tight. Other than that its as simple as it can be.

Mine is being powder coated right now,my friend who is doing the job says that the sight glass is just pressed in and can be removed prior to coating. You will need to remove the waterpump impeller and mechanical seal. Its a good idea to replace the seal when you reassemble everything.
