Aftermarket windshield?

is there an aftermarket windshield out there that has the exact same shape, thickness and bolt pattern as an OEM one? i got a speedscreen in dark smoke and it is flimsy and doesnt have the same pattern. which of course leads to not having as good a fit as stock as well.

I have a Zero Gravity DB screen so I can't answer your question per se but I can say it's very strong and fits well. I think they offer a stock version.

Re: Aftermarket windshield?

I'm selling my stock windshield for $15 if you're interested.
The Zero Gravity ones are thinner than stock.
I have an ZG double bubble and ST. both are thinner than stock.

My ZG ST is for sale too! (shamless plug) IT HAS BEEN SOLD

The Puig screens seem thicker but are around $80
Saw a Puig Double Bubble style on ebay the other day @ $76.95 + $6.95 shipping

Re: Aftermarket windshield?

If you want an exact replacement, go stock. No aftermarket shield is exactly the same. The manufacturing process for aftermarket is vacuum molding. The stockers are injection molded.

Re: Aftermarket windshield?

I am also looking for a new windscreen....the SECDEM HP screen that I was using was smashed when I crashed earlier this year.

I have bought the ZG DB and the ZG ST screens. After I compared them with the SECDEM product, I sold them. The ZG stuff never made it onto the bike. IMHO the SECDEM product is very high quality. Bolts right up....fit & finish are excellent. The HP (High Protection) model is the only one they make that fits the VTR. It is a couple of inches higher than stock, with a little lip at the top to redirect the windblast over the rider. Made in France. They have a website.

Another that I am considering is the MRA Touring. It looks to be comparable to the SECDEM screen. Made in Germany. They have a website.

For OEM replacement I am told that PUIG make an excellent product. They come up on ebay regularlyfor aroung $60USD. As does the stock unit, although these can be very inexpensive.

I will prolly end up purchasing another SECDEM screen.

Cheers!

Indy Superbike has Puig for $67. Bolts right up. Stock fit. Very durable - ask Isuzu! I had Dark Smoke but you almost can't see through it. I just ordered a Smoke for this season but it's not here yet.
