05 R1 seat unit does fit lol

Nearly finished now just exhaust link pipes and rear seat. If ypu are thinking of doing this conversion its not that hard i would say the hardest part is the welding on the subframe the rest just falls into place. Very impressed with the results think it brings the back end upto date and suits the bike. What do you think?????

It looks great, post more pictures once you have the pipes connected.

Lookin' great. Hope you can come up with some mid-pipes that complement the appearance further. Don't know much about British licensing and inspections but will the dark smoke headlight cover pass the MOT?
looks pretty amazing

looks good i dont like the gap from tail to rear tire maybe lowering the bike would make a diff but tail and seat looks great
I see the sticker on the boot lid (or whatever you call it over there)....has the 'Scoobie' been around the 'Ring ??
looks great. A little too "long" for my taste, but the photo from the rear looks kick-ass
 The picture from the rear gives a whole new meaning to "straight through" exhaust! Bike looks nice though. Great job. Any detail on how the subframe was attached?
Totally badass... great job... looks terrific!
a little long for my liking but a very clean install
Thanks for the comments guys keeps me wanting to do more. Jbeber yes it has was there in August and managed to get a few laps good fun not having to worry about the police but my them Germans are quick round there.
If you want some info on how the subfram was fitted there is a thread here http://www.vtr1000.org/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=12218 this pretty much is a start to now with lots of pictures. |

That look great, I thought that was a 2006-07 R6 tail? Thought 05 still had the older style tail?

I'm lookin into doing the R1 tail swap, but I had a question about it. I tried the link that steve posted but it appears to be broken. Basically I would just like to know what all I need to do the swap. I was planning on putting a R1 race tail on it so it was a single seater, but other than that what is necessary for the swap? Thanks for the help guys.

Man that looks awesome
I remember seeing it in someones post, that the bottom two parts of the rear subframe match up, whereas the top two hear the battery does not line up correctly. These are where it needs to be cut and basically the frame gets narrowed down (or if desired stretched out around) and so the top mounts are basically spaced out so they fit correctly. Didn't look hard at all from the pics. good luck!

Try this new correct link!
