how so??

if i had put a ducati engine in a superhawk frame, would that be ok??

are you saying that the frame has to be standard to be eligble??

what about if i had a standard frame with the 'ears' welded on like the Moriwaki race bikes??

or a Moriwaki race frame??

or is the 'vtr of the month' only eligble to bikes that are mostly standard, with just a few simple cosmetic mods??

just asking..... :D

motormouth 06-09-2012 12:59 AM

Nice bike Rob. You have my vote. No different than entering a street fighter.

oops, am I supposed to have a pic of me riding it??

Wolverine 06-09-2012 07:00 PM

gaggenau, you need to add 2" chicken strips to your list. :evillaugh:

7moore7 06-09-2012 08:07 PM

Rob that is... what is going on...

Ok, so you almost have sportbike geometry/rake going on, but a hard tail, water cooled engine with USD forks and a peanut tank? How does that thing run with that bitty carb and no airbox?

Huh.

It's clean.

I like the motor...

wsharpman 06-09-2012 08:23 PM

Hmmm seems to me there may be a need to define what a superhawk is here...i mean really ? what we gonna enter a Volkswagen body with a superhawk motor next. lmao
sorry but...what we have there is a frankenbike not a superhawk jmo

COLE 06-09-2012 11:48 PM

ok now, i ve always liked this forum bc everyone's not hating on everyone and busting ppl's chops like most forums, it's not my cup of tea but if you dont like it dont vote for it. looks like the man put alot of work into it...

I like the motor...

it runs sweet as a nut. ticks over fine, pulls cleanly to max revs with no stutter or hesitation from any revs with any throttle opening. i did do some maths when i made the inlet manifold, but i guess i just got lucky.
water cooled engines and USD front ends are not unusual in chops over this side of the pond.

how about a VW motor in a superhawk frame?
in the UK the vehicles' identity goes with the unmodified frame, modify the frame, it becomes a 'new' vehicle.... so i could quite legally hang a VW beetle engine in a superhawk frame and it'd still be a 'hawk.....

what about a ducati motor in an otherwise standard 'hawk??

what about the popular conversion of the VFR single sided arm and fireblade forks??

what about a Moriwaki conversion? looks like a 'hawk but has no standard engine internals, non standard suspension and wheels, non standard frame etc, etc... in fact mine has more standard 'storm/'hawk bits than a Moriwaki conversion.....

are you saying a 'hawk is only a 'hawk if it has the standard(ish) sillouette??

http://i59.photobucket.com/albums/g3...5_250worms.gif

Tweety 06-10-2012 02:01 AM

While the handlebars are a bit high for my personal taste, I'd probably opt for "standards" on such a bike, I like the rest... ;)

Oh... Well, not the semi-spiky bling caps, but that's minor...

l grant you that. and a superb job of it he did however it is no longer a hawk.

exactly what i am trying to get determined here. honestly ....if someone went to a corvette forum and entered a Volkswagen body with a corvette motor in it should or would they accept that? i don't think so. however custom things have a place and are cool but no longer are they what they were.

rob... 06-10-2012 03:00 AM

i've started a thread in 'general' about this subject, perhaps a mod could transfer the relevant posts from here over to there, so we don't clog this thread??? :D

NHSH 06-17-2012 08:27 PM

Hey Rob, we still waiting on a picture of you on the bike ;)
I like what you did in one exception... Why ape hangers??? Beside the bad steering... Your hands don't go numb? Just wondering...
I personally would like it with a straight bar, look and handles better

rob... 06-17-2012 10:54 PM

this morning is the first sunny day for about 2 weeks, i'll try and get some today.
i only put the apes on as a bit of a joke really, but oddly, i really like them!!!! no numb hands yet.... ;) i've got a new set of straights in case i change my mind, but so far, the apes are staying.

[edit]
got some pics on my mates camera of me on it, just gotta get 'em from there to here.......
