so the engines out after much cursing and cut fingers..
the engine in the background is the mori one.. high comp pistons, heads flowed. mori high lift cams, flywheel, all that makes a stage two race engine..
took a whole day just making sure everything went ok and not rushed..
the following day with help form another vtr nut we gets it all back together
two solid days hard graft and at last i can now say. yeah its a real spondon moriwaki. iv waited many years to say that..
completed the bike by also swappig over all it carbs and airbox and stacks etc,
we have all heard about what mori engines are like?
its not true.. i got a run out tonight and i can assure tou its much more than i could have expected lol.. a stage 2 on the road? no need for it as its fecking mental. its picks up at 3 k and revs that hard you would think you were on a 2 stoke.. im over the moon..
it now bares no relation to the way a vtr engine sounds, feels or revs like....
elvis has now left the building..on a mori...

So is it safe to say you are not just 1 guy with some tools doing this work? It seems like way too fast of progress for that to be true. At least the way I do motor swaps in my tiny garage.
Very awesome work though. Where are you again? Blimeyland? New Zealand?

well all change again... long story but the rear dymag broke its sprocket carrier so im keeping the dymags in a safe place.. so the spondon swingarm had to be changed for the braced one i got with the race bike.. it took 4 days,an angle grinder and a LOT of wrecked nerves but its out and undamaged and i can now take my tame getting bushes sorted for it.
so for the time being im using the braced arm instead which i kinda like the look of anyhow.
thats it done for now and i wana get out and enjoy the dam thing.

well i had to, i just had to... iv been looking for some time and waiting for a set of these to surface....
they feel lovely. but the noise they make on full chat has to be heard..
and fitted to the gutted out airbox.
its a pity they are hidden away but well worth it to let this engine breath.

the stacks i was well impressed with. they look nice but when you can actually feel them you can see the work that went into them. jetting wise im running the carbs that came with the engine so a bit lucky iv had to do no re jetting....
performance wise they really help from the midrange up, say about 5k onwards it pulls a good bit harder.. even if they didnt it would be worth it just for the noise they make when you rev it hard. bit like a vacum cleaner on full blast.

there is a guy in Oz named Bill Finnigan that does Stacks for the VTR .
His company is called H Power. He used to work for Honda on the technical side for about 25 years from memory.
I got my stacks and lightened flywheel from him. He also does a H.C Piston and cam kit for VTR as well.
He is a great guy and very knowledgeable.
He also likes V Twins and is a Guzzi Guru.
In my dealings with him nothing was too much trouble, he is a true gent !

you running 2 long stacks? I have a set of these (sitting in a box) Moris (mixed set, one long and one short) and the short one is MUCH shorter... FWIW, I am currently running 2 (long) HPower stacks but would like to try two of the "long" Mori stacks (which are slightly shorter than the HPower units) - if you are looking for a short stack to run a mixed set (which is the original Mori configuration) let me know, as I would be open to swapping my short unit for a long one...... Alternatively, if you know where I can up a (single) long one let me know.....
well i can say the longs do a great job but as you say the mori engine i think would like a short one..the jetting is perfect that i have as i used the carbs of the mori engine i got...
i sent you a wee pm on the vtr.org site..
and yes id be up for a swap if your interested..

well all change, iv always wanted high rise pipes. and to finish this bike off i needed the spondon front and rear alloy subframes which i was lucky to find and as a bonus i found a HRC ecu so well chuffed .
took 14 months to find but worth the wait.

its an ex Mike Edwards race bike, iv put it on the road so its a rite proper riot on a sunday afternoon.. i think it was made for the powerbike championship in 1998 .. its fun on the road, it runs a stage two engine that was build up by Roger Ditchfield of Revolution Racing.

more fiddling. wasnt feeling the alloy dash so made a little carbon jobbie

the big girl out enjoying a bit of sun.
it also had its first dyno run since the pipes.ecu and carb setup has been finished. i tried to upload the video of it but the hosting site imgur wont play ball.. it topped out at 130.64 rear wheel so well pleased with that result.

well lads its been a hectic year, after the dymag broke up i couldnt use the spondon swingarm but iv got my **** together.. il not go to far into it as it would take pages to cover but short version is, iv got my spondon swingarm back were it belongs, took a LOT of lathe work, a lot of head scratching and skinned knuckles but iv beat it at last.
i used a honda wheel, a lot of spacers, disc carrier, kawasaki disc, kawasaki caliper, and god only knows what else but, i win lol
to change from honda wheel to kawa disc
this also allows me to run a 4 bearing rear wheel
back were it should be
pipes cleaned up.brakes bled and ready to roll
carbon chainguard and new Talon sprocket sorted
and after 18mths thats my rear end back to how it should be. thank god
also changed the top yoke to a flat topped unit .
pretty much finished
now to decide on the ram tubes.
