Hello folks,

my name is Mike (33) and im from Holland.
Ive bought my red Firestorm 4 years ago from a guy that needed to sell it cause of his back was getting worse due to arthrosis.
The bike had a few modifications like:
-Laser exhaust
-Stainless steel brake lines
-Different tail light
-Black windscreen
-"speedbike" steer (or what do you call it...)

A few months after I got the bike I did some small maintenance: oil change, sprakplugs, airfilter, changed the rear tire.
Also changed the bugspoiler for a bigger one.

Later, replaced the CCTs for manual ones, changed the airfilter for a BMC filter and added a Dynojet Stage-1 kit.
The bike was driving pretty good, not perfect, due to running a bit rich according to the dynorun and the guy that did the run.

So, then I made some small trips and then the bike ended up in a dark corner in my garage and set there for the past year untill last week.
Somehow I lost my fun of driving and I wasnt really happy about how the bike ran... So I opened up the garage, got some air in the tires, tried to start it... but my bike
didnt want to get out of its hibernation.

So now Im trying to get it back to life and make some adjustments to make it run better.

If it has been sitting around for a while then a good chance old fuel has gummed up the carbs.

Welcome to the forum. Lots of knowledge here to help you sort out any problems the bike might have. Clean looking example of a 20 year old Firestorm.

Sounds to me like you need some carb work. How comfortable are you with removing them and altering their internal parts (jets)?

Nice looking bike, your right time to get it up and running and enjoy.

The carburetors will need to be thoroughly gone through and cleaned.

Would also suggest an oil change.

Mwahh... The white on the fairing panel didnt look to bad, but I couldnt get used to it. Maybe it was because everything else is gray, black or red. So the white looks a bit off.

Ive already disassebled the carb, and the jets got some crytals on it.
So first thing is to clean the jets.

Few years back I talked to Rob, he also gave me a visit back then.

Ive already disassembled the carbs and opened it up.
Got some crystals on the jets but the "fuel bowl" (dont know the english word) is clean.
Only the jets are dirty.

Im gonna clean the inside of the carb with some carb cleaner and use some air to give it a good blow, the jets will get a ultrasone threatment at work.
Yeah I could ultrasone the carbs aswell, but I dont really want to pull them apart cause there are to many springs mounted and last time I broke the sensor on the side...

Yeah yeah, I know that was the plan at first, but then I got the carb problems.

Oil is pretty fresh, after I got the bike Ive changed the oil+filter and haven't been driving a lot after.
Will clean the carbs as good as possible.

Honda UK made a special 50th Anniversary edition of the VTR with white number boards and other bits & bobs - worth a bit more than standard

That doesnt look too bad.
Maybe if mine would have had some white striping on the rear it wouldnt have bothered me.
But its back to basic now haha.
