new member intro

Hey yall,, names Michael and I just got a RIDICULOUS deal on a 99 S hawk with 13000 miles, true definition of a barn find. Been sittin for ten years so a full restoration of the mechanical parts is in order before I even try to start her up. Already got the tank, airbox, and workin on gettin these stubborn carbs off... changed oil to rotella t 15/40 and got her a fresh purolator filter.... Ill post pics soon but wanted to say whats up and thanks for the great site, its FULL of info im needing to get this project goin... So... Wats up??!

Wolverine 12-11-2012 05:41 PM

Watts up? Looks like you are from the home of Kicker electronics! Been using their speakers for many years, beating the living shit out of a pair of Kicker 12's... they just won't die!

Welcome to the forum! 1st thing I would do is dump that crap oil and get some M1!

Welcome to the forum... So Why are you selling off the OEM fairings?? and What kind of parts are you needing for you project??
No Rotella... MOTUL..

Kross_eXamine 12-11-2012 06:04 PM

Haha from Houston but livin up here now, ya you should see the Kicker plant , theyve got a wall of their competition L7s, they oscillate up and down the wall with a huuuuuge rack of warhorse 10000 watt amps. A 64 impala bagged and suuuuuper Slick... Ill takr some pics for ya ;)

Kross_eXamine 12-11-2012 06:09 PM

im not a big fan of plastics in general, and these OEM fairings are oooogly, IMO, especially the fat flat tail. its gonna be alot of custom work, alot ive never tried before, so its gonns be a learning experience sure! I never like havinv a "stock" vehicle with anything I ride or drive but ive never really done anything too crazy with a bike, and this was an opportunity I couldnt pass up

1971allchaos 12-11-2012 06:17 PM

I lived in OK.city for five years,, and took a tour of the Kicker plant... Funny Wolfie, I had a custom install in the wife's Maxima.. Reference Soundstream 705,Eclispe head unit and the Kicker C-12s did the job for a couple years, all modulators are Diamond Audio now...
Guess you could say- got kicked to hard.... he he..

Kross_eXamine 12-11-2012 06:21 PM

Had? Car audio was a huge hobby/addiction for many years. My current system has my holy grail, the Soundstream MC500on bass, MC300 on front stage and a D100II on rear. All speakers are Kicker. I have it so bad, I have a brand new in the box D200II "in the closet". Not a fan of their stuff after the D-MC line. Started gettin cheap.

Michael, I'd love to see some pics of the factory. If ya have any, post 'em up.

Nice find! I don't recognize the tread pattern of the tires. Avon? If they're older than 5 years I'd ditch 'em or ride really easy until they are replaced.

Kross_eXamine 12-19-2012 06:46 PM

Continental Conti-force. Its been sitting for 10 years in a barn, only has 13000 miles, but havent dated try to tart her up yet. The tank is full of rust and crap so going to have itblasted soon. It just staryed gettin cold so I have all winter to get her ready. Any OK members on here?

Kross_eXamine 12-19-2012 07:07 PM

Haha dont tell her that, shell get all big headed ... Story: I had a little 50cc zuma. I let her take it around the parking lot, thinking it couldnt be bad after the way too long instructions I gave her. She makes it arounf and bavk, pulls up just cheesin... She slows Dow. Approaching, and says "like a pro!" The scooter comes to a halt and she freezes, still in the seated position on it, and falls over, into my impala. Thats why she wont get a front seat on the Shawk lol

Mikael 12-19-2012 07:19 PM

Heh done that before luckily it was only on a bicycle, learn pretty fast to get the feet off the pegs when stopped.

Got to love old barn finds lets you tear it apart and put it back together again learning a lot in the process. Good luck with the build looking forward to updates and this site has so much good info on it.

Kross_eXamine 12-19-2012 07:23 PM

Hell ya, thanks man. Never thought I would be so lucky... You dont even want to know what I paid for it. Itll make you cry. I almost did when I got it home, feels like alot of good karma comin back all at once

Kross_eXamine 12-20-2012 05:08 AM

Oh id love to get her a 250 or 500 ninja in the spring. Just dont want her to try and learn on a torque-y litre v twin lol.

Edit: and thank you.
This seems like a great site

Kross_eXamine 01-19-2013 03:03 PM

So the $150, yes one hundred fifty dollars, I spent on this bike was well worth it. She runs!! Took some time to clean everything out. Ended up using apple cider vinegar in the tank. Seafoam in the gas and just lettin it idle through a full tank now. #fckinexcited

wsharpman 01-19-2013 03:48 PM

congrats :0 bet wifey is just smiling waiting for you to get it up and running and forget and leave the keys lol

aaugsbu 01-21-2013 07:11 AM

Kross_eXamine 01-22-2013 07:17 AM
