My Second 98!

1 Attachment(s)
Bought this used 98 about a month ago It has a few bling mods and some good stuff as well (fox shock, race tech forks, highmounts). It also had a "custom" paint job that was pretty bad (as in it sucked) so I repainted it a gun metal black with florescent red & pearl white graphics from tapeworks.

Very nice, I'm curious about the seat and the windshield? How do you like them? Are the worth the money? Does the screen help deflect alot of aircompared to stock? Thanks

Brent,

It's been too long (4 years) since I last rode my original 98 which had a stock screen so I can't give you a comparison but I will say that it does do a good job in protection and is smooth. The seat is worlds better than a stocker (I do remember that!!!). I do prefer sargent seats as their "atomic foam" is more forgiving while still being firm.

Worth the money? Well they both came with the bike, so I guess so!

Ouch! All that bling hurts my eyes!

Any chance you'd want to swap the Fox rear shock for a stock one???

Good looking bike, though. I love the black. Any chance you have pics of what it used to look like?

Geez, I don't know. That doesn't sound like a very fair deal. Shouldn't I give you a little cash too? :P

Done! :)

Is that a Sharkskinz lower?

Re: My Second 98!

Yes, that's a sharkskinz. I'd rate it about a 5 on a 1-10 scale. It's fiberglass and sturdy so it's easy to repair and paint and although it doesn't look like it, it's easy to install and remove.

That's good becuz it you'll have to when changing the oil or just about anytime you work on the bike. Why? Becuz it's a catch all for every damn loose bolt or screw you drop. A handy-dandy magnet on a stick for retrieval only works about 3 out of 10 times as it usually just sticks to the pipes. It's also a good gravel trap. Also, the bottom rear has burned through in two spots from the collector but it's not noticeable.

I now realize I didn't list all the "bling" that my superbling came with so here goes:

Sharkskinz lower
Polished frame
ZG doublebubble
Chrome wheels
Polished swingarm
Chrome frame sliders
"Bullet" style bar ends (removed)
Polished triple clamp
Undertail rear fender/LED's
Polished footpeg brackets
Flush mount turnsignals
Rear wheel Hugger
New Custom Paint (gunmetal black)
New Tapeworks grafix

And here's the more performance oriented items:

Front/rear goodridge SS lines
EBC HH pads
Pirelli SuperCorsa race takeoffs
Race tech front forks
Fox TC rear shock
Corbin Seat
2 Bros Ti highmount
Custom Fram air filter
TPS mod
Gixxer R/R (on the way)
Custom backlit Voltmeter
Plus more to come!

Anyone know what type of turn singnals those are on the front of the hawk?

You didn't mention it in the mods

Re: My Second 98!

Sorry I don't know what brand they are. I like the way they mount as they don't damage the bike.

OK, so I'm weird  and like the stockers so I have some used ones coming. If you want to buy the front ones cheap, let me know.

divingindaytona-

They look like Lockhart Phillips flushmount IV
http://www.lockhartphillipsusa.com/p...ub3.asp?id=134

I would STRONGLY advise against them. Because they are flat (flush), they don't throw any light forward. No one in front of you will know you are turning. Stick with a design that has the turnsignal sticking out at least an inch high. (preferably 2 or more).
