My 2005 Titanium VTR1000F!

3 Attachment(s)
Picked up an '05 VTR with 4,500 miles on the clock for $3K last night (10/10/07). Before this I had a '98 VTR That I had for a couple years but then sold that and bought an '04 VFR. The VFR picked up where the VTR left off (i.e. extreme comfort, fuel range, sssa, center-stand, misc amenities...), but really lacked where the VTR excelled... that beautiful V-TWIN! The VTR motor is just like a big bowl of frosted crack.... try all you want, you just can't live without it. The VFR motor was alright... especially for an 800. It would keep up with my old VTR pretty good, but the V-Tec wore on me like sand in my shorts. I just couldn't accept it, no mater how hard I tried. Anyhow... back to the new VTR. She was laid down by the original owner at very low speed causing very minor cosmetic damage. At dealer cost it's gonna cost me less than $300 to bring it back to immaculate condition. It is completely virgin with no mickey mouse mods at all. It has been sitting for a year or so, so I pulled to carbs and am going to dunk them in the sonic carb cleaner at work to day. God I can't wait to hear her run and ride it!

smoking deal!

L8RGYZ 10-11-2007 10:10 AM

Nice! Plus in the understated stealth grey. Good deal.

VFR looks cool... except for those triangular pipes... never found then attractive... but I'm sure there's some better looking aftermarket bits out there.

Looks nice and a great price...

This VTR makes my first look like a rip off... 1998 with a salvaged title for $2,200.:violin:

FL02SupaHawk996 02-28-2008 06:12 AM

were you wearing a mask? cuz you stole that bike:)

Nice job bro!

thepathlesstaken 02-28-2008 09:59 AM

Yeah great deal!

Hell I could not bargain with the owner of a laid down on both sides (both fairings scratched, engine covers scratched) 40k miles, and 3 year old tires down past $3000 recently.

Good deal on the bike and love the color.

flngscout 02-28-2008 01:38 PM

where did you get our mods. I have the same bike, only upgrades is up 2 down 1 sprockets. Makes a nice difference. I like the flat turn signals and tail end though

Hell, I didn't have to haggle him to get the price down to $3k... that's what he was asking. I did try to get a better price, but he wouldn't budge! ;)

I purchased almost everything from ebay except for the throttlemiester's, and grips. If you're reffering to light's... here they are;

NICE BIKE I ALSO HAVE AN 05 NICE.

nnjhawk02 03-01-2008 04:53 AM

Yes indeed a nice ride, but Yoshi pipes on a VTR is almost criminal.

Erion Son - Crashed Tested & Mother Approved ;)

flngscout 03-03-2008 03:51 PM

did you notice a big difference in the clutch when you replaced it with the steel braided lines? I think that is my next big fixer upper!

inderocker 03-03-2008 03:58 PM

The clutch line was actually a free-bee. I threw it on not expecting anything but to have steel braided lines all the way around. To my surprise it actually gave it a better feel at the lever.

Whats up with that? Nnjhawk explain your statement please.

inderocker 03-03-2008 07:10 PM

Yosh is kind of a Suzuki deal, whereas Erion is kinda a Honda deal. I am both a Honda & Suzuki fan... so it doesn't bother me none. I like the build quality of the Yosh pipes and definitely prefer the look of them over the skinny Erion's.

L8RGYZ 03-03-2008 07:34 PM

Gotta admit the Yoshis look much nicer.

divingindaytona 03-06-2008 08:54 PM

Personally I think that keep stock cans on the Shawk is criminal. I think that the yoshes have a pretty good sound to them, without being "piss of the neighbors when you leave at 6am" loud.

The first shawk that I looked at buying had 2 brother pipes on it, I started to drool when he fired it up. Too bad he desided to not sell it after all.

inderocker 03-06-2008 09:31 PM

Well... in reality (my reality anyway ;) ), when it comes down to it... buying any slip on is criminal as it's a huge waste of money. The $400 I spent on the slip on's only added to the visual appeal of the bike... no real performance gain compared to the de-baffled stockers I had on there before (maybe a dyno run will prove me wrong.... I hope!). If I had the $$$$ I'd be putting on the full Akropovic system, which is where it's really at. But for now... and maybe forever, I'm completely satisfied with the Yosh slip on's. :wheelie:

lazn 03-07-2008 09:33 AM

Don't forget weight savings.. the stockers weigh a metric buttload
