Damn I thought you were going to keep it?

mikstr 08-17-2010 10:10 AM

If you decide to whip up another batch of those carbon carb support plates let me know :) I couldn't be bothered with doing it myself at this point.....

mikstr 08-17-2010 10:30 AM

ok, maybe I don't need them that bad then......lol

I just ordered a set of the 105mm bolts (that hold everything together) out of aluminum. Won't save me a ton of weight but it is up high and didn't cost too much so what the hell....

RWhisen 08-17-2010 04:48 PM

Looks good Hawkster. Where did you buy your CF plate from? Thickness? Double sided?

Just_Nick 12-04-2010 07:47 PM

I think a different tail would really complement the sharp look the bike has. Somehow the stock tail is kinda bulbous.

mertechperformance 10-19-2011 09:44 PM

still a bit big. go all out custom slick!

firedog55 10-20-2011 10:08 AM

Hawkster, keep up the awesome work. This could be the VTROM(VTR of the millineum):). I can't wait to see your bike finished. Are you going to finish it up as a streetfighter? It would be kind of a shame to cover all your work with a fairing.

mertechperformance 10-20-2011 11:45 AM

Yeah that rs tail is prettly sweet lookin. slim with a nicely curved undertail.

Squid 11-06-2011 07:22 AM

Looking great bud! looks like RS125 tail is not needed anymore.

firedog55 11-11-2011 07:00 PM

That tail looks kinda bulky. Doesn't quite flow into the rest of the bike. But your fairing selection will look great. Not bagging on you, I wish I had your talent.

thanks for the comments, but this tail is anything but bulky!
it is actually quite small,in fact it may be too small.
my ass barely fits on it!

Great motivation to go on a diet :)

Don't answer! It's a trap!

hawkster996-Any more progress on your awesome VTR? Get going, spring riding season is just a few months away!!!!!:D

hellride 01-29-2012 02:49 AM

Pics!!!

firedog55 04-18-2012 02:49 PM

Hawkster-Glad to see you're making progress again:), keep it up. Many are looking forward to seeing your Shawk finished.

firedog55 04-26-2012 07:58 PM

Hawkster-Those calipers look nice. Your workmanship is great, keep it up. I look forward to your updates, being just a parts changer myself.

My hawk is pretty stock

firedog55 05-17-2012 07:34 PM

Hawkster,
That rs250 tail is a perfect match for the fairing (the Spanish one) you've chosen. LED's are probably the best bet for your tail and signal lights, flush mount them.

I like the wave rotors just fine. The TBR exhaust sounds great and works well with the rest of the mods.

Your hawk is coming along fine, keep it up!

JN607 05-18-2012 10:01 AM

Almost three years in this build! Lots of love and dedication to this bike you have. Can't wait to see it finished. I'm starting a build of my own so it's fun to read all the mods and problems that you have run into and overcome. Be proud of youself man! This bike is going to be beautiful!

firedog55 09-02-2012 03:22 PM

hawxster996-Any more progress? Your Hawk has the potential to be one of the best builds ever on this site! Many are watching and waiting. GET TO WORK

firedog55 02-22-2013 06:16 PM

Dude,
We haven't give up on ya yet!:p

i do that type of work daily and it just kills me to do it at home!

Thanks you made me feel better knowing I'm not alone. My pride and joy '98 superhawk has been sitting 95% finished in the corner of my garage for probably 6 years now...hope to finish it after this year when I'm done with school. Having said that we would still love to see yours finished! :)

I do not understand how you fixed the subframe, I see an attachment point on the highest point of the original setting, but I do not see any other setting, you can tell me?
I'm also on a heavy project on my VTR and I get to the end, and when I look at your work, I like what you did, the tail is very nice, I hate to see more;)

VTRorist 05-27-2013 08:35 AM

it is my understanding, but the inking two points are very close to the plans, they are not too close? it carries a large lever arm on hardware, it does not give too much flexibility in the assembly?

VTRorist 05-27-2013 09:10 AM

Cool it is very interesting that, then I'll think about it may be for the rest of my bike, normally by the end of the week EMC Suspension, I have built my shock absorber, so after thinking about it body

firedog55 06-19-2013 07:41 PM

Hawkster996-Glad you're back at it. Looks good, keep it going!:D

RobertLever 03-01-2014 06:09 AM

The bike looks great Hawkster!

CruxGNZ 03-01-2014 11:36 AM

Nice! That almost looks like a solid chunk of aluminum. Pretty cool looking. That part, are you going to paint it or polish it, or...?

kenmoore 03-05-2014 02:52 AM

Hawkster, You must have another bike.

In the middle of your build I really liked the front header pipe.
The way that it wrapped around was classic.

Why did you go away from that style of pipe?

Still many things to be admired.

I am flattered that we tied.

Come on man, get it on the road.

I have a new Tuono V4 coming in May but the HAWK stays.

We, or I am watching this build with much anticipation.

jscobey 03-05-2014 10:50 AM

looks to me like the exhaust is right where ur feet will be..?

how long have you been going with this??? the picture in the OP is dated 2003!!! is this hawk over 10 years in the making???

sjscicluna 03-19-2014 08:39 PM

looking good mate

CruxGNZ 03-31-2014 11:39 PM

Motorcycle porn :)

Just a quick question. Like you, I'm making carb brackets out of carbon fiber. How thick is the CF you made yours from? Judging from the pictures, it looks like almost 3/16" or thicker. I ended up going with 1/8".

I can't wait untill you get your bike on the road! Seeing your updates lights a fire under my ass to get the little projects done on my bike.

Keep at in man!

kenmoore 04-01-2014 02:06 AM

Man, I love that frame.

I am in total awe of this bike and can't wait until it's done.

Bravo, keep going man, this thing is inspirational and like many others on here I want to see it done!

kenmoore 04-01-2014 03:42 AM

Hey Mate,

Don't stop now!

Keep goin. Would love a video of Hawks face when he rides this thing for the first time!

Effen priceless I'd say.

7moore7 04-01-2014 07:24 AM

This is incredible. If you can get that front fairing to line up with the tail section like in the splice you will have a such a sick look.

Thank you. And I'm sorry. I didn't see you already answered that back in post #82 or #83. I'm a putz sometimes.

I've seen someone make thier motorcycle subframe out of carbon fiber rods and it looks pretty sweet.

salmanilla2000 04-01-2014 05:43 PM

That frame is sexy. Keep going bro.

scottiemann 04-04-2014 05:09 AM

Would you hurry up and finish already... jk

Ive been following this build since the beginning and i think im almost as excited to see it done then you are, the only difference being i cant ride it when its done lol...

Keep up the great work man!
