I'm Back! New Superhawk in my life
After selling my old 2000 Hawk about 10 years ago I have been wanting a new one. Finally bought one last week..... Feels good to be back on one!
2004 Superhawk with 23k miles. Pretty much stock besides the integrated turn signal. https://cimg7.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.sup...14a5e1b69b.jpg https://cimg8.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.sup...b97b952da1.jpg https://cimg7.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.sup...40a18611c9.jpg |
Lookin' good. Welcome home.
|
I told you that you'd be back. ;)
|
Nice pick and welcome back, is this the extended 19L tank on it?
|
Sharp looking Hawk. I've always lusted after the black and gold color combo.

Maybe, but the 19L tank wasn't offered in the US market.

Here’s the definitive tool to indentify a 19L tank. Distinct flare upper rear of tank. https://cimg0.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.sup...e4809a8ac.jpeg |
The 19L tanks I have, use a separate (frame mounted) petcock as well.

Sorry Eric, I had 2, but one met with it's demise in a rather embarrassing way. I have spent years popping dents out of tanks and expansion chambers so what happened was pure idiocy! As always I strap, clamp, and brace the item before I rig a way to pressurize the vessel. I slowly up the pressure while applying heat from my torch. I've had really good luck (countless pipe and dozens of tank) with this technique, until now! I was pressurizing and turned away when I realized I had forgot the most important strap (securing the tunnel) it went POP! I now have a 20 - 30 liter low profile tank shaped like a cushion that doesn't fit anything! Live and learn, sometimes.
I found another on Australian Ebay. (Bike Spares Australia)They just have to ship them as "Body Parts" or Customs will block them in the US as importing emissions and fueling devices are prohibited. |

My but is ready for a break at 100 miles anyway, but gas stations in TX can be a ways apart so a few more liters would be nice. |

Nice looking ride and welcome back

Even with the 19l tank I have been caught out 3 times in almost 7 years. Now on a big ride into unknown territory I carry a spare 5 litres. Funny thing is since I started doing that I haven't been caught out. Interesting to note that the most I have ever put in when caught out is 16.74 litres. WTF ! P.S Welcome back and enjoy the ride ! |
