Hi All...
I'm a new member (and new SuperHawk owner) from the Los Angeles area... decided it's time I quit quietly browsing the forums and say "hi."
I just bought my completely stock '00 VTR a little over a week ago and absolutely love it! Has some slight damage on the right fairing and pipe, but willl clean up nicely. Unfortunately some electrical system issues just appeared and it's in the shop until at least Monday... so no riding this weekend. :( Will post some proper pictures once I have it back! Also - A quick thanks to those of you running the forums... there's some great info in here! :D - Mike |
Welcome, Mike!
If you like the bike now - just wait until you get used to it. |
Howdy neighbor, welcome aboard.
|
enjoy your new bike. If you came from an middleweight inline 4, consider a good 500 miles to get used to the power band, rev. characteristics and power delivery. Hell it took me more miles than that.
Its an amazing around town bike as well a twisties bike. |
:welcome: to the forum
|
:welcome: Alright, another SoCal VTR. I was born in LA waaaay back in 1946. In 4 years I've seen fewer than 20 SuperHawks. Most people don't even know what it is, even other riders.
A guy riding a red VFR800 asked me last week if it was an inline 4. Enjoy the torque. |

Welcome to the Forum. I'm newish to the area and have been loving the superhawk on all the twisties in the Santa Monica Mountains. Enjoy the torque!
Seems like we have enough VTRs down here now that we should have a yearly meet/ride or something? Maybe just up to the crest sometime? |
Welcome.
|
I ride the only bright yellow one that I have ever seen in San Diego. :)
I enjoy the rarity of it. |
Welcome. I work just up the road in Camarillo (here until the 2nd this time around). I think I may have seen that bike on Craigslist when I was looking for mine recently. Was it posted on there?
|
welcome to the fun! superhawks are awsome!
|
I finally get around to adding a few pics (from a recent local ride) ...and find I totally missed several responses (on my own thread no less!) Thanks for all the welcomes guys and sorry for the delayed replies! :D
@eersfanpilot - You're not far off at all! The guy I ride with (900ss in the photos) is right up in your neighbourhood. Hopefully we'll cross paths some time in the local hills. @Moto Man - I'm definitely up for a local meet-up/ride one of these weekends! Here are a few shots from the phone... Note: You can just make out the custom black graphics the PO added by gently rubbing the bike on some pavement. :p https://www.superhawkforum.com/forum...pictureid=1313 https://www.superhawkforum.com/forum...pictureid=1314 https://www.superhawkforum.com/forum...pictureid=1315 |
Nice pics Olaf. But I still don't know why you're angry, with such a nice bike.
If you're inclined, you can lop off about 5 inches from your rear fender very easily with a Dremel. Then ditch the license plate light and drill a few holes in the underside of the tail light and glue a piece of clear or milky plastic over it. Just a suggestion for a cheap and easy cosmetic mod. Your buddy's Duc is very nice as well, and rare. |
Thanks VTRsurfer. I've thought about trimming the tail, but decided to keep the bike cosmetically as stock as possible for now.
I'm actually an extremely calm and easy-going person... The "Angry" name is pure fiction carried over from days of online video-gaming. :p My buddy got that Duc a while back for an absolute steal! It had been sitting in someone's garage for ages with some cosmetic damage and he was able to get it really cheap. Didnt take too much to make it beautiful. I still envy his find! |
I grew up in the Nordic parts of this country and everybody named Olaf was angry. Hahahha! Everybody named Erik was an explorer and everybody named Hans was a good blacksmith.
True of every new owner: The pride of the ride is almost as overwhelming as it's performance when it's new. Like your buddy with the vintage Duc, you have a great bike to enjoy for many years - especially in your part of the world. Take care of the bike and take care of yourself. Lest the bitch lead you down the wrong road. Yo Momma talked to about that stuff, right? |
I wonder what brought you to purchase the Hawk? What was your last ride?
You're really going to enjoy this thing! Great people on this forum, I too have been watching for some time and just started to post. Welcome. |
I do absolutely love my Superhawk! :D
Last bike was a '93 GSXR750 and I sold it about 8 years ago. Had missed riding ever since. |
