Hi.

You don't have to call me sir my parents weren't married when I was born.

Yes the bike is stock except for pipes windshield and jetting, I just got it as an early b-day present so maybe a half dozen rides in so far. The pipes are loud enough to irk HD riders.. highly recommended.

Sounds fun... Enjoy the bike for a bit, observe what you like and want to leave as is or improve, what you dislike and want to change and then consider the few reliability mods done commonly and see if they feel right for you.

Bit of googling VTR1000F regulator failure should bring up some info to help you decide.
Likewise VTR1000F CCT failure

And then you can have some fun and do stuff no one needs, but many want...click the links in my signature

Thanks all, I did peruse the forum before buying the bike so I understand that CCT and RR replacement are good ideas. I have also made it through all 56 pages of your performance mods section. My VTR needs suspension and brake upgrades so they will come after CCT/RR replacement and some Avon Azaros as my tires are old. Good times.

I have sources for all that is needed for the RR mod if your going to do it your self...All good US places to order from.

If you dont have the special cable terminal tools needed or the bulk supplies, I have offered a kit pre terminated, customized to the VTR https://www.superhawkforum.com/forums/classifieds-32/ vice the once size fits none kits out there

No skinnier, cuz after the POS diode based OEM RR one fails you will be pushing your bike everywhere,, great work out, but kind of hard to pick up chicks that way.

Ok kids I have a thoughtful Mosfet RR kit and a fine Sargent seat on the way thanks to E.Marquez and CaryDG. Also ordered a set of APE MCCT's with gaskets. It will be nice not having to wear the ruby slippers to ward off evil, I miss my Diadoras.

Hello gentle reader. I have ridden the bike and found it to be too soft and too fat so the goal of a wholesale front end suspension and brake swap from an F4i is a VTR with a stronger, more planted front end that has the brakes and suspension to complement the VTRs engine and frame. I have been riding for about 47 years, started out on the street with a 1983 CB1100F, also had a 1993 and a 1994 CBR1000F a 1986 VF1000R and a 1986 BMW R65 monoshock monolever. This VTR is my last sportbike, when I cannot ride it any more I will hang up my boots but until then I and the bike are going to have some fun. If it makes you feel any better I am also spending another G on a new FIELDSHEER suit and gloves to go with my new helmet and boots. Have a picture.

The wheels, by the way, are ASAHI TEC not ENKEI. Me likey and they should drop a few pounds...the goal was to drop 35 pounds total and make the bike dance as if life were just a KC and the Sunshine Band soundtrack. Have another picture, and some KC and the Sunshine Band.... https://www.bing.com/videos/search?q...8&&FORM=VRDGAR My older brother on his 1984 FJ1100 and my CB1100F, we rode to Mt Baker that day. Long time ago, must do it again. These days he rides a 2009 Kawasaki ZX10R so I am still last.

To each his own, if it works for you do it.

It was just curious, going from a 41mm conventional fork that is known to be upgradeable to the point folks with lots of track time are fine with the modified results for the VTR to a 43mm conventional fork that will need springs and valving to be useful and set up right for the rider and this bike.. It seemed, well redundant and more pricey I guess. Have you looked at fork tube length? Is the stanchion long enough to allow the clip ons to mount above the top tipple clamp? Or are you going to have to mount your clips ons under?

The calipers I get as well, run them on my bike as a lot of folks have, I currently have it combined with a Brembo radial MC for a brake feel I like.

Are the chosen wheels significantly lighter then the OEM Enkie's? You mentioned reducing some 35 lb with your swap... that would be great...where does the weight reduction come from?

Lol, I hadn't thought of that.

I'm familiar with owners having the standard forks re-worked, or fitting USD forks which many have done, but it was the first time I had come across someone fitting a CBR600F4i front end.
Some of the points made by baddellinger made very good sense to me.

I was hoping to hear how the project turned out, looks like I won't now.

Life happens, did a cut and paste from here - instead of doing a copy and paste - to show my uncle my new bike and I never got back to replacing the missing bits as the uncle passed away and the extended family fought over the stuff. The bike is not converted yet but will be soon. Pics later.

" Maybe the wife figured out he bought a motorcycle."..........I would not marry or be partnered with anyone who didn't support my hobbies or at least tolerate them.
