Done, finally.
Hawk is a '99 that I've owned since '02. 9,700 miles, not many but it's not the only bike I've owned since '02. Previous color was yellow.
Before Pics. http://i51.tinypic.com/2lkbf2o.jpg http://i53.tinypic.com/33usyua.jpg I considered selling it and getting a new leftover '10 ZX10 (great deals out there if you have cash). But I thought it would be fun to keep the old Hawk and update it. UPDATES/MODS -JDM/Racetech forks and CBR 600 F4i rear shock. -JDM billet shifter. -LP fork pre load adjusters -Coerce fork brace, counter shaft sprocket cover, and CF rear hugger. -Pazzo short levers. -Dunlop Q2s -R1 Mosfet R/R. -APE CCTs. -Factory Pro jets, shift kit, and 4 degree ign. adv. -K/N filters. -DID ZVM 520 chain conversion, 16/44. -SpeedoHealer -CBR 6 spoke wheels and All Balls bearings. -RC51 (SP1) calipers and 954 MC, Galfer SS lines. -Galfer wave rotors, Vesrah pads. -Dodge "Blaze" red, TapeWorks graphics under clear coat. -Cut front and rear fender. -Flush mount front signals, small rears. -Zero Gravity DB smoked windscreen -Misc. CF parts. -TBR high mount CF slip ons. -TBR block off plates (dePAIRED) -Stainless steel fastener kit off Ebay. -CompetitionWerks GP foot pegs. -Gel battery. -Vortex billet gas cap. While I was at it I flushed and changed all fluids and the spark plugs. I had a few issues along the way but members on this forum shared their knowledge and advice. Jamie Daugherty was really a good source of advice, truly a good guy. He even dropped off my rear shock (after recharging it, N/C, because I loosened the reservoir banjo fitting and lost oil and pressure) on his way to vacation. Thank You Jamie. The bike really runs good, the brakes are much improved, and the suspension is all I had hoped for. I'm glad I kept it. http://i55.tinypic.com/14b2ik4.jpg http://i53.tinypic.com/20sc93r.jpg http://i54.tinypic.com/2j0h6ie.jpg http://i53.tinypic.com/28i7wom.jpg http://i51.tinypic.com/2eumw5j.jpg http://i52.tinypic.com/2lleec2.jpg http://i56.tinypic.com/w18pxw.jpg http://i54.tinypic.com/rjfofa.jpg http://i55.tinypic.com/6gl8oj.jpg http://i51.tinypic.com/2w1utrb.jpg http://i53.tinypic.com/2z9fihy.jpg http://i52.tinypic.com/2ppypua.jpg http://i53.tinypic.com/23lhy02.jpg http://i55.tinypic.com/14b2ik4.jpg http://i53.tinypic.com/20sc93r.jpg http://i54.tinypic.com/2rz41l3.jpg http://i52.tinypic.com/hwad7p.jpg http://i54.tinypic.com/xeke9i.jpg |

Very nice...
I dare you to keep it that clean for more than 2 minutes... |
where did you get the TBR hi mounts!? Im looking for them!
Thanks guys for the positive comments. I did spend a lot of time cleaning, polishing, and painting. But I'm no mechanic, just a parts changer.
Stumplove-The TBR slip ons came with the bike when I bought it in '02 with 1,300 miles on it. Everything else was bone stock. Thumper-I liked your paint so much I voted for your bike in last month's VTROM. It gave me inspiration while mine was apart.:) |

Nice bike and excellent color choice, much faster now I'll bet. :)
Outstanding! Very detailed everywhere you look.
Beautiful. Nice touches with the carbon, too.
SUPER JOB Firedog55. That is one sweet bike, looks like it just came off the show room floor, much emproved of course. Happy trails.
You sure can be proud of that build, now what's next?
Looking good Lee!!!!!
Super clean! looks awesome.
Sweeeeeeeeet ! Excellent job! Oh how i wish i had a garage in hong kong to trick my 97'. I use the dining room !
Thanks guys for all the positive comments, it was a labor of love. I couldn't have finished it without many members on this forum's advice and help.
Jamie, your suspension work is incredible, a huge difference in ride and handling. Thanks again. |
Exceptionally clean. wow...
I'll call that the perfect Superhawk.
I'll give you $100 to come and clean mine! :p |
One awesome Superhawk! Makes me want 6 spokes more than ever.
Wolverine, the 6 spoke wheels do make a difference in looks. You can find them on eBay, that's where I found mine. All Balls bearings are a must have when you buy a set off eBay. I'm thinking about selling this SHawk to make room for a S1000rr. I need the garage space, and I don't ride it much, I've only put 350 miles on it since I redid it.
I was just cruising around the board and re-visited this thread. Glad you still have the pics up to share w/ everyone. She's a real cream-puff :p considering only 350 miles in over a year...
Why don't you ride it? I can't imagine comfort would be the reason if you are considering the Bimmer. The wheel swap will have to wait for me. With the wife in nursing school the toy funds are scarce... |
Nicely done. If you do decide to sale let me know. I can understand if you don't that is a nice bike.
Wolverine-It's not a comfort issue, it's a space issue. My garage is packed with a BMW K12S, Yam. WR450F, a '05 mustang GT that I just turboed and the SHawk. The wife refuses to park her car outside! Something has to go if I get a new bike. Lately I've been considering a Speed Triple.
T-Rex - Send me a PM. |
Sent you a pm.

Am I a traitor? I still have my SHawk, although TRex is talking about buying it.
Here's my new bike: http://i46.tinypic.com/24dijwo.jpg http://i48.tinypic.com/9vd2c5.jpg http://i48.tinypic.com/9vd2c5.jpg http://i45.tinypic.com/2hgztx5.jpg http://i49.tinypic.com/5v53s8.jpg http://i50.tinypic.com/29ynwa9.jpg http://i48.tinypic.com/6oly4m.jpg http://i49.tinypic.com/1z6y62q.jpg Bike is a new/leftover 2010 S3 that I have been looking at for the last 2 yrs. The dealer gave me a good deal so I bought it, :p glad I did it's a really neat bike. |
