Done, finally.

Hawk is a '99 that I've owned since '02. 9,700 miles, not many but it's not the only bike I've owned since '02. Previous color was yellow.

Before Pics.

I considered selling it and getting a new leftover '10 ZX10 (great deals out there if you have cash). But I thought it would be fun to keep the old Hawk and update it.

-JDM/Racetech forks and CBR 600 F4i rear shock.
-JDM billet shifter.

While I was at it I flushed and changed all fluids and the spark plugs.

I had a few issues along the way but members on this forum shared their knowledge and advice. Jamie Daugherty was really a good source of advice, truly a good guy. He even dropped off my rear shock (after recharging it, N/C, because I loosened the reservoir banjo fitting and lost oil and pressure) on his way to vacation. Thank You Jamie.

The bike really runs good, the brakes are much improved, and the suspension is all I had hoped for. I'm glad I kept it.

That was exactly my thought when I saw those pics. Makes me think mine needs a thorough detailing. Won't happen.

saige Aug 12, 2011 10:42 PM

I dare you to keep it that clean for more than 2 minutes...

stumplove Aug 13, 2011 10:46 AM

where did you get the TBR hi mounts!? Im looking for them!

firedog55 Aug 13, 2011 01:27 PM

Thanks guys for the positive comments. I did spend a lot of time cleaning, polishing, and painting. But I'm no mechanic, just a parts changer.

Stumplove-The TBR slip ons came with the bike when I bought it in '02 with 1,300 miles on it. Everything else was bone stock.

Thumper-I liked your paint so much I voted for your bike in last month's VTROM. It gave me inspiration while mine was apart.:)

Thanks, it actually not paint, its Avery A7 series Vinyl Graphic material. Your rebuild went nice and looks top notch.

superhen Aug 19, 2011 06:04 AM

Nice bike and excellent color choice, much faster now I'll bet. :)

ninjagoalie Aug 19, 2011 06:12 AM

Outstanding! Very detailed everywhere you look.

Tormoz Aug 19, 2011 07:05 AM

Beautiful. Nice touches with the carbon, too.

MOONSTER Aug 19, 2011 08:13 AM

SUPER JOB Firedog55. That is one sweet bike, looks like it just came off the show room floor, much emproved of course. Happy trails.

FL02SupaHawk996 Aug 19, 2011 08:37 AM

jdahkvtr1000 Aug 19, 2011 05:53 PM

Sweeeeeeeeet ! Excellent job! Oh how i wish i had a garage in hong kong to trick my 97'. I use the dining room !

firedog55 Aug 19, 2011 06:05 PM

Thanks guys for all the positive comments, it was a labor of love. I couldn't have finished it without many members on this forum's advice and help.

Jamie, your suspension work is incredible, a huge difference in ride and handling. Thanks again.

Exceptionally clean. wow...

davidka Oct 19, 2011 09:42 AM

I'll call that the perfect Superhawk.

I'll give you $100 to come and clean mine! :p

Wolverine Dec 2, 2012 05:38 AM

One awesome Superhawk! Makes me want 6 spokes more than ever.

firedog55 Dec 7, 2012 08:00 PM

Wolverine, the 6 spoke wheels do make a difference in looks. You can find them on eBay, that's where I found mine. All Balls bearings are a must have when you buy a set off eBay. I'm thinking about selling this SHawk to make room for a S1000rr. I need the garage space, and I don't ride it much, I've only put 350 miles on it since I redid it.

Wolverine Dec 7, 2012 08:22 PM

I was just cruising around the board and re-visited this thread. Glad you still have the pics up to share w/ everyone. She's a real cream-puff :p considering only 350 miles in over a year...
Why don't you ride it? I can't imagine comfort would be the reason if you are considering the Bimmer.
The wheel swap will have to wait for me. With the wife in nursing school the toy funds are scarce...

T-Rex Dec 9, 2012 02:16 PM

Nicely done. If you do decide to sale let me know. I can understand if you don't that is a nice bike.

firedog55 Jan 5, 2013 02:26 PM

Wolverine-It's not a comfort issue, it's a space issue. My garage is packed with a BMW K12S, Yam. WR450F, a '05 mustang GT that I just turboed and the SHawk. The wife refuses to park her car outside! Something has to go if I get a new bike. Lately I've been considering a Speed Triple.

T-Rex - Send me a PM.

T-Rex Jan 5, 2013 09:30 PM

Sent you a pm.

firedog55 Feb 13, 2013 01:40 PM

Am I a traitor? I still have my SHawk, although TRex is talking about buying it.

Here's my new bike:

Bike is a new/leftover 2010 S3 that I have been looking at for the last 2 yrs. The dealer gave me a good deal so I bought it, :p glad I did it's a really neat bike.
