Road Trip
Well its cold and snowing so I thought I would share some pictures from my last motorcycle adventure. The old man and I drove our bikes around the norther half of Lake Michigan!
We started at home and headed toward Sheboygan, WI. From there we headed north along the lake, dipping into door county and riding some nice county roads. We stopped for the night in Marinette, WI. The hotel had a hot tub which felt great after a days worth of riding!
We knew day 2 was going to be our longest day, so we were out the door ready to ride by 6:30. Plans to leave early changed real quick when I noticed some missing bolts on my subframe, so we waited until 7:00 before any auto parts stores opened. We spent about 45 minutes in the parking lot replacing two missing bolts and tightening the other two. (I should have brought a decent set of tools) We hit the road late and hauled some @ss through the upper peninsula, crossed the mighty mac, then stopped to eat a late lunch. We ended up taking a few shortcuts and stopped in Beulah, MI for the night..
Day 3 started before sunrise. We had to make it to Ludington before the ferry left. It was a nice easy run and got there with plenty of time to spare. We had a really nice breakfast on the ferry as we rolled out of Ludington, then kicked back for 4 hours as we sailed across the lake! We skipped lunch in Manitowoc and headed straight home.
I'd 100% recommend this ride to anyone. Lots of cool places and nice roads! M-119 aka the tunnel of trees was probably the best on this trip! We rode just over 1100 miles in 3 days.

Why did you take the ferry? I've made it 100% around from Skokie easily with only 2 nights on the road (including lousy weather with rain and ice). I've also done it with 1 night's hotel. About 1,100 miles with my route hugging the coast up around the Leelanau Peninsula and down through Traverse City, then up and across the Mackinaw Bridge, and then over the top of the lake, and down through Green Bay (usually bypassing Sturgeon Bay either due to weather or time constraints).
PS, I'm neither of the guys in the pic...

Awesome run! Glad ya caught the missing/loose bolts. We're finally expecting some half decent temps this week but the chances of rain are almost 80% every day (@some point). Might have to get a quick sprint in on one of em.
Anywho, thanks for the share/inspiration.

Stunning pics, JJ. That black and silver color combo looks amazing. I'm a fan! I can't wait for the weather to get a bit nicer here so I can do something like that.
