So i picked up a 98 superhawk a few days ago. Its a good running bike, but in need of some good TLC. It has about 27500 miles on it. The original owner, dropped it going about 10 mph and cracked most of the plastic. He replaced it and gave it a shitty paint job.

Going to ride it throughout the summer and when winter hits, all plastic will be taken off, sanded down, repaired and painted to my liking lol. It pulls had, so as of right now i don't see to much wrong with it, besides needing a jet kit. I will give it some love and hopefully the beauty of this beast will be brought back. Im normally a harley rider so this is my first sportbike. So here she is....

Nice! Love the look of the standard mount D&Ds rotated up with the TBR high mount hangers. Looks great. Welcome aboard!

Welcome but before you blow money on a jet kit check out the Carb Setup thread by Hawk8541 in the knowledge base. It will save you time and money!

Other things to read up on the forum about before spending money, are CCT's, R/R and K&N airfilters... ;)

That should keep you busy a while, and save you some nice cash... ;) And help you spend it...

I can see the potential!
It's great to see people have their first exposure to the VTR. It's a great motorcycle.

Welcome to the forum redline. So this is your first sporty, do you have any other 2 wheel experience?

Mrredline05 05-20-2013 09:18 PM

so this might be a dumb question, but im guessing if it has different exhaust hangers on it, normal stock passenger pegs wont fit on it? Or am i just over thinking it?

Most likely they wont fit straight as they are... With highmount slip-ons, or in your case low-to-high, the exhaust sits where the pegs would normally bee...

The solution is pretty simple though... You get longer bolts, and spacers (any piece of tube works, but nice alu spacers are, well, nicer... ) and put the stock pegs so that they are on the outside of the slip-ons...
