1999 Superhawk NAKED

I acquired this SH last April, have only done maintenance to it, until now.
I found the thread on the lightened flywheel and hrc throttle upgrades, plan on doing those along with Racetech front suspension, wave rotors and stainless brake/clutch lines. I put 5,000 miles on this bike last year, really loved it. Now that I have a spare bike, time to start upgrading this one.

i absolutely love the single round headlamp. the blacked out radiators are nice too.

Looks great. Kinda a supermonsterhawk.

So more fun this weekend. Ordered Racetech Gold valves, vortex clip ons, stick coils from a cbr1000r, and the hrc 1/6 throttle. They should be going on this afternoon/tomorrow. Pics to follow

Of those the most bang for the buck is the throttle. You will feel like you gained 15 hp across the rev range.

Honestly the gold valves were the best thing, really made handling so much better. The throttle is nice, but I'm more of a lean angle guy than a go fast guy. The stick coils didn't make it on, ran out of time. The bushings in the forks didn't want to come out.

Yes, gold valves are the best overall improvement.

I was saying bang for the buck. Throttle is cheap and 10 min install. Valves are way more time and money, and deliver more but cost way more.

I got the gold valves in exchange for labor, so no real cost there. Benefits of working for a family owned shop.

So this happened.....

On a ride last week the exhaust got really loud all of a sudden, pulled over to find the gasket for the rear head pipe had blown out. Pulled the exhaust off and ordered gaskets and new clamps, figured I'd go a little deeper for some additional mods. Carbs are getting jetted (surprised it wasn't already), cbr1000 stick coils, manual cct's, psr click'n'roll levers, and smog block off plates.

It's not a big deal, either one will work, but the coils from a CBR600 are a bit shorter and fit better.

Didn't know that, I saw the post from E.Marquez on his coil on plug mod, followed it. If one of the coils ever go bad I'll look in to that.
