When Does Your Clutch Engage?
I have scoured the forums and ze google in search of input and have found a few posts, but not much. The question is this:
When does your clutch engage? Mine tends to do so at the last ~80%+. The few posts I've read say that that seems to be the norm, an idiosyncrasy of the hawk so to speak. I'd like to get some fresh input on this. Is yours the same? Is my hawk going to explode? Turn into Bumblebee? Thanks in advance hombres! |
mines about 70 to 75%

it's because it's hydraulic. They feel different than a cable actuated clutch and there's no adjustment/play.

As long as the clutch is engaging and you get no slipping, you should be fine. Mine is pretty much as reported above. I do get some slipping on the track under very hard shifting/accellerating. I've replaced springs with Barnetts, but only somewhat better.

there was a comment somewhere about adjusting the thickness of the slave cylinder gasket to reposition the engagement point.

Thanks for your responses, keep em coming, the more input the better. I don't mind the engagement point, actually prefer it for quicker shifting. My girlfriends Buell comes out at about 10% and I find it highly annoying. Just making sure my bike is on the level :)

Mine is about 80% also. Seems fine...

same here 75-80%

Ditto/75-80. Suave is helped by keeping the housing and rod clean where it emerges from the seal.

Suave? The shampoo?

Mine seems to engage at about 90%. :/

I'm same as CascadeRider, mine engages in the last 85-95%, when pulling the clutch in it only moves slightly and completely disengages.
