VTR100) misfire at 5000rpm
1 Attachment(s)
Can anyone with autoelectrical knowledge tell me why the HT leads on a VTR1000 would have a braided earth wire "appearing " from half way along the lead (from under a sheath for the want of a better word , but like an extra length of outer heatshrink ) and then running to an earth on the frame ?
Is this some sort of electrical suppressor ? The whole idea of a possible earth strap connected to the HT lead has me wondering why they exist at all....the idea is to get all the charge to the plug... Surely this could be a potential point for a misfire problem I have - the bike runs fine to 5k, and then acts like it has hit the rev limiter... It is NOT carbs - been right trhough them 3 times .....in fact have it jetted so well from start to 5k.. |
Re: VTR100) misfire at 5000rpm
hi there im new to the forum but i have had a similar problem recently, like yourself i checked everything and eventualy found it was the fuel tap dyaphram split. take the tank off then empty the fuel out, take off the fuel tap and undo the 4 screws on the vacum tap, beware of the spring inside, check the rubber to see if u have any splits in it.
what happens is it will not draw enough fuel when the revs are high, that could beyour problem. hope this helps. |

I also have had this problem, and it seems to be getting worse. What octane do people use ? Its only its low RPM and its a CLUNK CLUNK noise. kinda scary! any expericance ?
