Valve Spring Options
Valve Spring Options
I thought I'd take a moment to share a bit of info regarding valve springs:
As it is commonly known KW makes a set for our bike. As well there are the originals. A bit of poking around reveals that the RC51 springs work too. Here are the data:
OEM: 53 seat, 185 open
RC51: 77 seat, 195 open
KW: 55 seat, 176 open.
These #'s are at .340 lift with an installed height of 1.490 for all 3. Just an fyi, the RC and the VTR have the same weight valve train if you use RC lifters and the RC does not rev much higher. Considering that info, I think the RC springs would be a better performance upgrade if you are looking to turn higher revs. I have more data on the spring design itself if anyone is interested. I can extrapolate the open pressure to our lift of .405, or whichever cams you have, but that will vary depending on your installed height.
