Tricks for getting to Front Valve Cover?

I was installing a set of manual CCTs and I heard the chain click on the front cylinder. Pretty sure I had it in the right spot, I rotated everything 450 after doing the rear.

I'm following the steps in the manual but I'm having a hell of a time getting to the back(top) bolts on the valve cover. My plan is to go buy a cheap 10mm wrench and hacksaw it small enough to fit in there(sometimes I wish for smaller hands), but I'm wondering if I'm over thinking it. I can't fit my 1/4" ratchet in there at all.

I use 2 4" extensions on a flex head ratchet and a deep socket. I go in over the radiator hose and keep the ratchet head right next to the steering head.

I found it easiest to use sockets with an extension and I removed the oil cooler

There's no way to make removing the front valve cover fun. I changed to manual CCT's when I did a valve inspection and adjustment. I took off the fairing, everything from the carburettors up and the plastic shield above the front valve cover and let the oil cooler fall forward and freed the radiators from the support brackets. I transformed a three hour job to a ten hour job but I had the time and at least I could see what I was doing.

+1 on this. removing the oil cooler is a must. Take the plastic shroud off, the carbs, airbox... not a fun job by any means.

Best of luck K30...

LOL, I never even picked up on that. Good catch!

I did, but figured someone else might need help too.

I took off my front fairing, airbox, and oil cooler and that was it. The top ones were a little tough but not hard.

That's what I thought was funny too... then I imagined him actually trying to get it off for a year and suddenly a couple of new posts come up so he has new info to go off of!
