Sargent seat

I'm thinking about getting a Sargent seat for my VTR. Does anyone know if the rear seat cowl will fit on the Sargent? If not, are there any other seats(besides stock) that it will fit on? Any input will be appreciated.

I have a Sargeant seat and the stock rear cowl fits just fine.

Great! Thanks for the info. Is the Sargeant seat more comfortable than stock? How about the Corbin, anyone have one of those as a comparison?

I've got the Corbin and love it, stock cowl fits perfect. Never sat on a Sargeant.

My Hawk had the Sargeant seat when I bought it but the guy I bought it from said it was one of the best upgrades he made. Just read a post where a guy rode from Canada down to Kansas and he had a Sargeant.

Anything almost has to be better than stock. Thank God the tank is only good for 120 miles. By that time you need a break.

I have a sargent and a Corbin. I have the seat cowl on the Corbin and use it when I don't have to lug the girlfrind around. The corbin is smooth but eh basket weave pattern on the sargent works best in Florida. Seems to help the air circulation and keeps the monkey but at bay.

Corbin works good for me, but beware they are proud of it as you will see in the price. Not sure what it goes for now but I am gonna guess 390.00-400.00?

$330 shipped for a Corbin Smuggler, I don't know about the two up seat.

(That was old new on ebay, I don't know about the Corbin site)

Where is the best place to get a Sargent from?

IMHO, I would pay $100 more for the Sargent over the Corbin, its that much more comfortable. Again, just my opinion.
Sargent seat and Heli bars are 2 things at the top of my list right now!! Come on economy :(

I ordered mine direct from Sargent, because I wanted a non stock option of "medium gray" piping. It matches my '05 Titanium and I got it from a phone order in 7 days.

It is Soooooo comfortable!:D

Do you have pics of it on your bike? That color must look cool!

HawkRider98 09-23-2008 05:42 AM

My bike came with the stock saddle and a Corbin. Corbin was much more comfortable than stock. About 6 months ago I was able to trade with a forum user for a Sargeant. After riding the Sargeant for 6 months I would say the Sargeant is more comfortable than the Corbin. A little more narrow at the front and just seems to hold your butt better. The Sargeant has the older fabric which they have discontinued. I am thinking about getting it redone in the new stuff for $70.

I've had a Sargent on my VTR for about 6 years. It's a huge improvement over the stock seat. The seat cowl fits but the tabs at the front of it have to be trimmed to fit the Sargent. Directions are included IIRC. The rear tab on the seat cowl fractured after about 4 years of use. I was able to repair it with Plastex.

Cool. I think when the cash flow picks back up, I'm going to look towards the Sargent.
Thanks, guys.

does using either of these seats lower your ride height at all?

If anything, I think my sargent rides a tiny bit higher than stock

I got some heavy duty chip foam and vinyl for $20 and made my own. Few hours work and now have all day comfort.
