just wanted to say thanks for the knowledge/tech sections on this forum, without them there are a few things I never wuld have hecked on my bike. you guys are doing a great job making this forum a very helpful and friendly place

i looked at the R/R on my 98 just now and noticed the plug was almost completely melted/charred. so looks like im goin MOSFET.

anyone use this kit? will this work for my application? fair price?

You aren't going to find much better price for a new R/R, and would have to hunt for awhile to find a significantly better price for a used one. That's a good kit- There are quite a few of us running a similar setup (I don't have an in-line fuse on mine).

That will do the trick. The only thing I would add is that I soldered the in-line fuse and then shrink tubed it, including the crimped connections for both the power and ground ends . There is a shrink tube that uses a silicone liner that completely seals out moisture when heated, (It melts and adds additional protection), but at the very least just make sure all the connections are well made/soldered and sealed from the elements and you should be set.
I also used the existing power wires that went back into the main wire harness that powered up the stock RR to power up an alarm or you can seal them off for future use of another accessory. Just an FYI.
