Lithium battery
I need to replace my battery and want to use a lithium battery. Anyone know of what brand and model will fit?
Sorry if there is an existing thread on this but ifvthere is, I couldn't find. If there is a reason not to go to lithium, please let me know and I'll stay with the norm. |
I’ve been using a Battery Tender (brand) BTL12A270CW Lithium battery, fits well in stock box, weighs 2.2lbs and has built-in BMS.

You can definitely go with Lithium battery, but I would highly recommend to upgrade the R&R (regulator/rectifier) before you do it, Lithium batteries have a tendency to like a bit higher voltage charging than the OEM R&R, not to mention, it is a general recommendation on VTR's anyway, the OEM are pretty crappy to begin with and can potentially cause a very expensive repairs when they fail with 50% chance of frying all your electronics. I have been using the same Lithium battery for the past 6 years now and it still strong with much better cranking power and 10 times lighter, I will never go back to regular battery. There's allot more good options nowadays, you can look up Shorai, WPS, Featherweight, Antigravity and more. But, definitely upgrade the R&R if you have't done it yet, there is plenty of great info on doing that here. |

Thanks everyone.
I replaced the rectifier a couple of years ago so I should be good to go. Thanks for the brand and model number. When I do a search for batteries for Super hawk, no one seems to includdd lithium batteries. Thanks again.

I've been running the same as 2.5i in concert with Eric's Plug-n-Play R/R set up. Light weight and reliable. With the built in BMS you don't have to worry about killing your expensive battery by letting discharge to much.

Pray tell which battery?
I'm still running the lithium battery from Jamie Doherty that he used to offer on his website. It's based on the A123 cells. I just looked up when I got it, this is actually the 7th year I have it with very little maintenance. |
I run a bikemaster now---kicks ass.
