C.C.T. replacement
 

After spending alittle time reading here I have decided to replace my C.C.T. with the A.P.E. ones. I am new to working on bikes so I was going to have honda do it. Do you think honda will say stay with stock c.c.t.s.? Any thought on the cost? I have a service manual ordered. I want to read up so I dont screw up. Also I think the bolt sticking out the back of the A.P.E. cct looks bad do they make a cover for that?

sometimes mechanics don't get it right...

If you don't ask the dealer what they recommend, but just tell them what you want done, they should do it. If you are paying for their service, they may have recommendations, but in my opinion if you want your cct's swapped they should be glad to do so. You may want to print out the instructions on replacing them so they make sure to set TDC as it is most likely catastrophic if they don't.

This one is a relatively simple swap to do yourself. If you follow the directions closely, you should have no problems...

No shroud for the CCT's- I actually like the anodized bolt look. If you're feeling really adventurous, many people have converted the stock ones to manual ones. But that takes a little more involvement.

Going to a honda dealer is going to be way expensive. Shop around for a reputable shop but I would ony go to a dealership if I broke down & could only push the bike far enuff to reach one.(which is what happened the last time I was at one)

Have you done the regulator/rectifier yet? Depending on your mileage that may go first.

Its not a hard swap. Take your time and do it yourself.

It really is a simple swap and requires no special tools. Do it yourself and save some money.
