Are you this guy?
http://newyork.craigslist.org/lgi/mcy/992661834.html
I only note this as you have been trying to sell this bike at this price for the past 2 years, using the same ad, every single week....I think it's time you become more realistic about what someone will pay for this bike in the tri-state area. |
He'd make good friends with this guy in my area: http://fortcollins.craigslist.org/mcy/998976333.html
Nice bike, but no one is going to pay that. |
|
With such low mileage, my guess is that's around what they owe on them...probably bought leftovers from a dealer with 0 miles and now trying to sell them for what they owe:banghead:
my 2 cents, RC |
I've got you all beat... by a lot!
It's been reposted 3 times too. http://tucson.craigslist.org/mcy/999089293.html (I apologize if this belongs to someone on this forum) |

Wow. He might have been hitting the crack pipe when he made that list. That's just nuts. They didn't cost much more than that when they were new.

i was going to put mine up for $10k, i figured that hawks only gained value. I also would like to buy two bikes when I sell this one.

Dano,
My dad lives in Loveland. He sends me some of the interesting FC area Craiglists. Superhawks and RC-51s. I might be out there this summer. Might rent a bike, have to meet up for a ride. |

$8,000?! Wow, thats the highest price I've seen yet. There were a few similar age VFRs the past months around here that were in that price range, I thought it was just a VFR thing.
Erik, there are lots of groups who do rides out here and lots of awesome roads to carve up. It would almost be a sin to be here and NOT get on two wheels for a day or two. :) |

sounds like you got a good deal. The local stealer close to me was trying to sell them for 9000 up untill they discontinued them. He never had an rc for me to drool over. ! had to go to memphrica to see one of those(10,000 price tag in 04) machines . Glad I waited. |
Man that guy with the 02 is only asking 4550. Mines a 02 in the same condition and I was gunna post it for 4350 and take anything over 3950.
Looks like I might be stuck with the hawk for awhile if you cant even get 4k for a low mileage mint bike.... I dont get why no one wants these things! There are a lot of comparisons between VTR and VFR and most come out in the wash, yet VFRs hold value like whoah. If I wasn't a 21 y/o adrenalin junky I'd love the hawk for its predictabillity, comfort and usable power. Seams like the rest of the world sees it as a white elephant, i dont get it. when's the last time you saw one go for anywhere close to book on ebay?!? |
some people are just clowns. I was looking at ninja 250's and 500's for my sister to pic up and ran into some guy wanting $7,000 for an 95' ex500. I just laughed.
|
7000 for a ninja in general is too much, no matter the size. But ! do see ninja 250's go for 4000 around here, yet i probly cant get that for my hawk if I wanted to sale her.

Personally... the Hawk is almost reaching a point where parting out is the only way to get your cash back, I have no clue why nobody really wants these things (as I have 2)... but who cares... I'd be happy to have a bike I love that if it gets stolen/torn up, I could buy another for 3K or under... You lose 3K the first mile you put on a new CBR 1000!!! J. |

I don't think it's obsene to ask what he's asking (although its a bit high IMHO) but it's the fact it's been listed for a good two years, and hasn't changed price once... even if the bike didn't move 1 block since the listing, it's 2 years older... you'd think the price should reflect that.

It won't be another Superhawk at any price. It's not that my tastes have changed - my destinations have. Texas is a big place. I'm interested in micro-camping off the end of a bike. My next target is Honda ST, Triumph Sprint ST, FJ1300. Wanna join me for some fly fishing in East Texas? |
To be fair all of the non-RR sport bikes (fz1, z1000, TL1000, 919) have shitty resales too. Those bikes are all faster than the hawk too (TL isn't really) but it seams like even though they are more comfortable than their RR counterparts (with which they share their power plants) and will be a better bike for 75% of riders, people just want that full fairing and race suspension and will pay for it.
BTW-----sumthin-major- 7000 isn't too much for any ninja. And the new 250's (08+) are so hard to find people are getting more than the 3800 MSRP that they paid new. Its the only starter bike that wont be a total waste of money to buy new. They'd probably beat a superhawk through a set of hairpins. |

Ultimately the SHawk was sold for 8 years in the US with very low demand and resulting deep discounts. Basically EVERYONE who ever wanted a SHawk has one (and is probably a member of this forum). Why no demand? Who knows. WE can't know because WE are the segment who bought them. Bottom line is resale doesn't matter. You are not supposed to sell toys anyway - just buy more. |

Not that I race my beloved hawk that much, But aint no 250 ninja gonna beat me at nuthin. I've raced my good bud Jimmie too many times on his.(He's dangerous and that's all he needs) The only thing 250 about it is the motor. About the other models, Ive never been a big fan of their styling . Plus, a friend of mine had a 600 that was only 2 years old and it felt weak against a honda 600. |
styling??? have you seen the new 250's???
http://www.zpower.com.au/catalog/ima...250R_Right.jpg Seriously, i bet the 250 beats a hawk through the slalom. A good rider on a supermoto can beat a supersport through a set or 1rst/2nd gear twisties easily. Total humiliation. At low constant speeds weight and corning clearance trump torque. |

My Superhawk was a dream come true. For ten weeks I toiled over the bike to make her mine. Members here participated in that process and it wasn't cheap. 188 miles later a guy pulled out of his daughter's day care and stopped. I took him on the driver's door at about 25mph - that's full brakes on from 45. The bike saved my life and larger still is all the mods that I had done because of the forum. Without the brakes, lines, forks and tires this could have gotten ugly quick. I'll park it under the bridge and sleep beside it before I'll sell it. |
