Wreck to running ((PICTURES))

3 Attachment(s)
The story is, I sold my Katana 600cc and got a Superhawk. Its a 2001 w/ 2757 miles, I bought it for around 5k. Early in the week I bought it I was doing a wheelie in a parking lot at around 11 at night so their was a mist on the ground. I found my self putting the front wheel down to late ( I was going around 50mph) and couldnt stop in time. Tried to slow, but finaly locked up the front tire on the wet gound and sent the bike into the curb. It bounced up the curb and hit a small tree. It broke the trunk of the tree! Well a long boring list of things to replace. But Ive got pictures!
P.S they are not in order because I ran out of room. I have a time line of 5 pictures.. these go in the order.

If your forks are bent, its time to replace them. If it hit that hard you may want to have the frame checked also.

Good Luck.

The bent forks are a perfect excuse to swap on a set of 929/954 RR inverted forks. Look on ebay, get the whole front end (triple clamps, forks, brake calipers and rotors, axle, spacers, wheel). Throw in some new tapered bearings and you've got a gen U wine race-worthy upgrade. If you're gonna be doing stunts you'll want the stronger forks anyway, since they're less prone to blow out seals when you slam the landing on a botched wheelie, and they're more stable for endos. You were doing a wheelie on wet pavement with stock tires? Do you have insurance with Lloyd's of London? Perhaps I can get some insurance on you? Would you sign an agreement?

O.K. Mr. Winslow that will be the last time you do wheelies in the parking lot won't it !? At least you didn't f yourself up like he did. I agree with v2weapon though you might as well upgrade and get the frame checked. Funny though I went from a katana 600 to the superhawk as well :) mine was a 96 with the purple seat and wheels. If you don't want all the work of the inverted forks the 900rr is pretty much a straight swap from what I've heard.

Hey by the way I'm in the process of putting invrted forks on my hawk, if everything works out I'll have a stock front end for sale soon. Let me know if your interested. Mine is a 98 but I believe everything is the same.

900RR forks are 45mm diameter, so you end up swapping triple clamps. Not sure what the offset is. the big problem is the fork length. You have to get longer stanchions. I started looking in to it, but noticed that the tops of the fork tubes on my friend's RC51 were the same height as mine. We measured them and sure enough they were the same length. I'm pretty sure the 929/954 forks are shorter, but the gull wing top triple clamp makes up for it. I used 929 clip-ons below the top triple clamp and let the forks stick out at the top.

So sad about the bike! I did almost the same thing with my old Yamaha FJ1200... Only it was a parking RAMP! That was a mess!
