I thought it was my R/R at first, since the battery wouldn't charge. I replaced the R/R with a gixxer one, and it was still bad. Ohm'ed the stator connector out & found the culprit. Spec should have been 3~ ohms, this baby was at 110. Time for a new one! Before that, it was charging fine. |
That's nasty. . .did she leave you stranded?

I guess that's what I call Honda engineering. 65k is great. It may have been partially compromised before you replaced the r/r with the gixxer equipment. Either way, that's not a bad service life when you think about the r's and torque that these bikes put out. And all that said - it's one thing for a part to fail - it's entirely another when the part fails and comes apart inside the engine doing all sorts of CD. At least this one stayed together instead of trashing the rest of the box.

yeah, it left me stranded at the beach. I had to waddle down a small hill to pop start it. :|
From the looks of the stator cover, the buildup was from over time. 65k is a bunch of miles indeed, but from me owning the bike since ~62k it didn't seem like much. the RR & stator combo is charging my battery at 15.1-15.2 volts at idle.. a bit too much, so I ordered another RR to see if it was the problem. |
