What have you NOT done to your SuperHawk today?
 

SO we have a ongoing thread "What did you do with your SuperHawk today?"
And thought,, that's great, but you have not done a damn thing to your SuperHawk but ride it, put gas in it and do an oil change and tires when needed for months.. what's on the list to be done you have procrastinated on?

Rules for the game??? we dont need no stinking rules....:p but to keep this on track im going to suggest you not list anything, any repair, upgrade or project you do not have the parts on hand for. (not that most project don't end up needed more parts after you start,,, buts that not what im talking about)

So..what parts and repairs, upgrades or swaps do you have lined up and ready to go....and simply have not taken the time to do? What's on the agenda for "tomorrow" when ever tomorrow comes around

Lets see what i have keyed up and ready to go.
All things listed below are parts and materials on hand..needing nothing but time to complete

1. Rebuild forks with the DMr internials I scavenged from my old folks..install some SKF "green" seals and the Superforks brace.
2. Install my latest generation light weight flywheel
3. Install USB power port scavenged from my old bike
4. Install all new coolant hoses and thermoplastic clamps, thermostat and gaskets..purchased for my old SH but not yet installed
5. Install Denali LED Driving lights
6. Install FP shift kit scavenged from my old bike
7. Machine and install billet rear underslung brake caliper mount and caliper
8. Machine captive three piece wheel spacers using a stainless steel wear band
9. Install headers with the O2 sensor bungs welded in place and reinstall my wide band sensor package scavenged from my old bike.
10. Modify the TPS on current set of carbs, adjust to 500 ohm, install adjustable fuel screws and go spend a few hours on the Dyno I just machined parts for to upgrade to DynoJets latest sensor and computer program package for the PC5 and down.. No not useful for my bike, but the work was done in swap for as many hours of personal use as I want.
11. Strip and PC my spare wheelset
12. Build and install the high mount exhaust can hangers
13. Mount and wire in the KOSO voltage gauge
14. Finish building shock high pressure stainless steel line for remote reservoir and install on DMr modified shock using some fresh fluid

Added a Sharkskinz lower Fairing
Drove over every mountain in Arkansas

I suppose this thread was inevitable.

My procrastinating list is not as long, but still their.

- install lightened fly wheel
- install new MOSFET R\R
- and last but not least, install Leo Vince high mounts purchased last winter.
- oh what the hell, a last last one, remove lint from belly button.

- fit new mosfet r/r
- wash it more than once a year
- install new braided clutch and rear brake lines
- repair fairings cracks all over the bike
- repair painting, or make new
- install and try lowered buell footpegs, already purchased
- upgrade gear rod joints

- tear it apart like Bobby (Fastguy59) for museum prep detail
- ride it

The Duc has taken away all the VTRs love. Yesterday while cruising in 3rd @ about 4500 revs, I gave it a full wrist twist. Front end came up about a foot and slowly came down as the tack reached 11. Holy fuck this bike is AWESOME.

1. DONE Install all the Racetech fork internals
2. DONE Install the new All Balls steering head bearings
3. DONE Re-install forks and controls
4. DONE Install the Coerce fork brace
5. DONE Install the Scott steering damper
6. DONE Install the new Apex Bars
7. DONE Rebuild the clutch master
8. DONE Install the new the new Strada 7 levers
9. DONE Install the new Speigler front brake lines
10. DONE Install the new Speigler clutch line
11. DONE Rebuild the vacuum petcock tap
12. DONE Build a mount to fit the remote carb balance lines
13. Paint and decal my lower fairing
14. DONE Clean and install my exhaust cans
15. DONE Pull Carbs and drill the air bleeds out ala Jay Morrison
16. DONE Detail and install all the bodywork
17. DONE Synch the carbs and hit the dyno!
18. DONE Look out at the snow and wish I had finished this past spring...

I let mine sit for too long, now I'm procrastinating on cleaning out the pilot jets.

Didn't ride it for a while...
On the mechanical side.
1. Need to work the carbs better at one point and add the needles from Jackflash
2. Time for oil change and brake/clutch fluids as well

Fit the polished rear sub frame that has been sitting in the Cave for over 2 years,

Adjust the manual CCTs , the front is a bit rattlely,

Sync the carbs, bike runs great just feel the need to check

Give her a good clean up

Get a new battery, the current one is a bit lazy

Flush the brakes and clutch

Fit the new air filter element

Clean the chain and sprockets and adjust chain

This is getting scary !

Change the coolant for summer .

Remove the mesh headlight cover and clean headlight lens.

Repaint fork lowers.

I give up, I think I will just ride it !

Nothing Mechanical But....
 

I arranged for a Ride-Your-Bike-To-Work Day tomorrow with my team.
Mother Nature cleansed our paths last night.
Should get about a (15) bike turnout.
Great camaraderie here and a passion for the sport.
Weather will be great 74oF (23oC) and Sunny, cool in the morning.

Sounds like more of a DID DO. Can I get a ruling?

Maybe we need a third, "What ARE you going to do to your SuperHawk in the near future, but you really have to mean it, this isn't a wish list?" thread.

The ride event was something that I had 'planned to do', but haven't yet....not until tomorrow.:thumbsup:

Great. Now I see the need for a fourth composite thread.

Are you going to re-install the headlight cover once cleaned? Seems a real pain in the $&!? to keep clean. With all the bugs and all.

I have NOT installed and wired the new carbon fiber dash with LED indicator lights and Veypor gauge. I have not installed the old plastics.

Besides that, she's ready to ride.

So, SO close to riding again.

I washed it yesterday and put it back in its spot.

Need to give it a chain and refit the bar ends. Then it will be rideable. Need to have it going for a track day in February.

I have not sanded the new carbon shell. I have not flushed the carbs. I have not installed the carbonfiber pan. I have not molded the lower for the tank..

Ridden it !

Bike is hibernating at the moment, with carbs and airbox off.

Coming soon:
- clean minor deposits on one intake valve (thinking of trying isopropyl alcohol and toothbrush)
- reinstall carbs and airbox (with new, next Gen FIL)
- vinyl wrap forks (black)
- look for short (which drains battery while stored for a couple days)... grrrrrrrrrrrrrrr
- replace chain and sprockets (going to 15/40 gearing from 16/42)
- replace bars (black in place of red; purely cosmetic) and grips
- replace fuel cap (lockable one in black)
- replace footpegs (rubber coated Puigs)

and surely a few other things...

revise your list

Beautiful! Yes post some up to date pics and stop working on the cages (seen in background).

I like you use blue painters tape (but not the more expensive dark blue stuff to ID wiring just like I do (you can't see what you write on the dark blue stuff anyway but it sticks way better).

If you truly mean deposits on the intake valves (and exhaust (rather than some other valves), after assembling and before reinstalling the tank, air box cover and air filter, run the bike (you'll have to use a remote fuel supply, and plug the vacuum hose to the petcock) and spray in some Outboard Marine Corp (OMC) or equivalent "Engine Tuner" per instructions. Then treat the fuel with 1 oz. of Chevron Techron Concentrate Plus (now renamed as fuel system cleaner but it has to say in small print concentrate plus) and go for a ride and blow the rest of the carbon out.

However, you must have exhaust cans with are straight through with a hollow perforated core wrapped in insulation or the amazing amount of carbon and crud that will be blown out from the valves and combustion chamber may get stuck in a baffled muffler. Also, do it outside because there will be smoke, and don't have anything in the line of fire!

Alcohol won't cut carbon but Acetone and Toluene will in conjunction with a SS wire brush and Scotchbrite pads.

1. Erik's 1# lightened flywheel that has been awaiting the 2. Factory Pro EVO shift kit I had on order first 6 month and then again (after canceling the first order when I found a much better price) another 13 months that finally arrived; and 3. weld the crack in a joint in the right case guard (caused by vibration) that has also been waiting on the shift kit because the case guards have to be removed to remove the left and right side cases. 4. is replacing the petcock's vacuum diaphragm and in-tank fuel strainer. I already replaced again the in-line fuel filters (from a GL1200) I run and replace every 2 years of 8,000 miles whichever comes first.

When riding season gets here, ride it more and give the FJ-09 more rest.

What I haven't done today is go pick up my broken 'Storm from some kid's place. He was gonna try and take a look at it for me after I lost a CCT. It's been a while. He says he can't turn the crank 360. So I'm heading out to bring her home and come up with a plan of attack.
