Weighted Bar Extensions???

So I am going to get my Shawk tomorrow and have planned a few mods already, one in particular is I want to add bar extensions. My question is, other than cosmetic, what purpose do weighted extensions serve?

They claim to reduce vibration in the clipons. That in turn makes your hands and arms feel better longer.

They also help out if you lay it over, they will act as sliders and help protect the other stuff. They in no way replace proper frame sliders (I just ordered a set of T-Rex) but they will help.

they are mostly for cancelling out vibration. crash protection is a side benefit.

my 05 gixxer had huge bar vibration issues with teh stock bar end weights. i had a friend machine much bigger and heavier bar end weights out of ss. they made a huge improvement. in fact i was absolutely shocked. the bike feels completely different, and it's all for the better.

it took me a couple rides to get used to the "speed creep". i would be going 140km/h on the slab. i'd look at the speedo and see 200! it was so much smoother that speed was creeping up on me without me realizing it.

the comfort level of the bike rose dramatically too. my hands still fall asleep but it takes longer.

for a minor thing heavier bar ends make a vast improvement.

i always remove the bar ends and run dirt bike grips and things like that. the vibes were less on the superhawk then some of the I-4's ive had. ive never thought street bikes had bad vibes though, must be use to it from years of dirt bikes.

I think my bar ends helped, but I'm so damn skeptical of seat-of-the-pants comparisons that I can't really say.

I put throttlemeisters on there. Problem is, if you crash, they aren't cheap.

the hawk has less vibes than my gixxer did with the stock bar ends.
