vtr1000 vs rc51

hey theres a kinda friend of mine that has a rc51 who is always putting down my hawk saying its a rc51 wanna be says his performs better at everything i havent riiden with him due to the hawk being down for the engine rebuild but its almost ready he said he was going to show me at the1/4 track the rcs dominance his bike has a few upgrades while mine is mostly stock except the chain and sprockets -1 in front plus two in rear how do ya think it will go in a race

lazn Apr 14, 2010 08:47 AM

Well the Superhawk predates the RC51 by a few years, so if anything the RC51 is the copy..

But it is true the RC should be the better track bike, his bike can go faster, turn quicker etc etc. It will come down to the skill of the rider though.

RWhisen Apr 14, 2010 08:48 AM

Guess we'll see. RC51 is 110-115? HP.

~130hp for the RC to our ~110hp

ive been riding a lot longer and dont think hes got real good skills i dont think that hes gonna crush me like he thinks, im not scared to launch my bike either well i wont be scared to after the apes get here thats what killed it the first time, any way my brother is gonna be there with his 03 zx9r im sure niether rc or hawk wants a peace of that bike at the track but the rc friend says hell give it a shot

flatlander Apr 14, 2010 09:08 AM

It kinda sounds to me like your "friend" is a jerk that may be compensating for something. I wouldn't ride with someone that feels the need to put other people, or their rides down. Yes, the RC51 is a higher performance bike, it was designed to be. I think i speak for others when i say i have an appreciation for the engineering that goes into various motorcycles reguardless of the performance. Find someone else to ride with and just enjoy the ride.
P.S. I rode the Hawk home for easter weekend, 600 mile round trip, lets see how great an RC51 would be after 4 hours in the saddle.

sayyyyyyyyyyyyy what??????????????????????????

Tweety Apr 14, 2010 09:18 AM

On a squiqqly track the RC outpaces the VTR in stock form... On a straight 1/4 the VTR is on par with the RC (better low end, but the RC rushes you at the end)...

On the road the RC cant hold a candle to the VTR... Unless we are competing for the fastest ticket/most tickets...

eddie baker Apr 14, 2010 09:26 AM

yeah i love my bike i enjoy riding it , and wont bother me to get outran at the track, but cant wait cause i love racing it

Donīt get this in the wrong way, but it seems to me that this talk is more like a boys talk than men.
Bikes canīt be used to compensate the size of penis, when people try to do it always came out in shit.
My advice is to get away from people like that, theyīre always bad news and live shortly, itīs a fact!

eddie baker Apr 14, 2010 02:45 PM

not trying to compensate for penis size is it not ok to like to race, i was just wondering how the hawk would size up im not familiar with th rc

nothing Apr 14, 2010 02:47 PM

it'll be pretty evenly matched I would say, advantage rc with it's hp if the same driver was on both. I'd still consider it a driver's race.

ranchomice Apr 14, 2010 03:33 PM

I think luis was talking about the other guy and he was also trying to warn you about "kinda freinds" like that. Just be careful.

Isn't that what the Harley empire is built on??????

Ohio Hawk Apr 14, 2010 04:48 PM

A Superhawk has nothing on a RC51... but maybe slow speeds in a parking lot.

Moehawk005 Apr 14, 2010 04:59 PM

i have riding both bikes, but my fav is still my hawk. yeah the rc cis a newwer bike but i still believe the frame and crisp of the throttle on the hawk is cleaner.

eddie baker Apr 14, 2010 05:12 PM

well he is a loudmouth if its is a blowout he'll run his mouth if its close he'll run his mouth if i win he'll have an excuse you know guys like this right

residentg Apr 14, 2010 07:01 PM

I have not has the SH on a track, but I do not think that in stock form, suspension in particular, that I would want to push it too hard.

divingindaytona Apr 14, 2010 08:25 PM

Honestly anyone can go fast in a straight line, just pull the throttle and shift gears.

Now, it takes talent to go fast in the corners!

residentg Apr 15, 2010 12:42 AM

How about the guys that say "I never use the brakes!". So lame...

luis saleiro Apr 15, 2010 02:31 AM

Iīve ride both.
Iīve been with my VTR for 12 years, and a close friend of mine has a RC 51.
When we go out together itīs like a huge storm on the road. We both have loud exausts.
Anyway, if i would race in my VTR with his RC, (wich iīm not!) i wouldnīt get a chance for sure.
Iīm not the SH master but letīs if i can help you with this:
In rough mode.
The RC as a clean power curve with loads of power and a easily intuitive rideability.
Itīs a great machine built for tracks.
But mineīs still more fun to ride and gives more feeling of power than his (i think it has something to do with the carbs and the injection diference)
Itīs like a wild lion against a circus lion trying to see whose more fun.
His always asking to change bikes, saying he has rist pains and numb hands, but he never said his bike is better than mine, and never asked to ride agains me.
It doesnīt make sense to ride a sport tourer again a sport bike. Itīs not fair and equaly.
Do you understand what iīm saying with my bad technical english? They both have they hown space and are not rivals.

eddie baker Apr 15, 2010 08:04 AM

i hear ya man but for me its just for fun

shayne Apr 15, 2010 05:48 PM

I reckon you will beat him on the track for sure.

Just make sure you have a nice 500 mile ride to get there first. ;)

I'm a newbie (that being said, you've tagged me already) but comparing the Firestorm/Superhawk to the SP/RC51 ....is like comparing CBR600F4i to CBR600RR... (actually I even think there's a bigger difference between the RC and the Hawk)...

Sure, in a 'race' it all comes down to the rider...but comparing the bikes only.....I think it's pretty much obvious...

Tweety Apr 16, 2010 03:05 AM

There is a reason that several of my friends (RC, Duc 1098, 999, MV F4) will gladly let me swap bikes with them on our longer rides... And there is also a reason that they are a wee bit reluctant to switch back once I have had my fun and are getting fed up with the cramped quarters... There is also a reason that the guy on the CBR 1000RR 08 just keeps rolling along, and only tried my bike once to satisfy his curiosity...

insider Apr 16, 2010 03:23 AM

Tweety we're not arguing here the Hawk's comfort levels or its usability in town/trips..
I think everybody would agree if you want to put some miles on a bike, you're better off with the Hawk, rather than the RC51.....

The dispute was on a performance level...

Correct me if i'm being s2pid....

Hotbrakes Apr 16, 2010 05:35 AM

Why only a 1/4 of the track and not the whole thing? At least down to the end and back...
