VTR Production Numbers....?

How many of these suckers were made? (Per year even?)
Does anybody have any production numbers for U.S. models??

doggerman 05-01-2008 03:06 PM

ahh my first post the reason I joined................As my bike sits at the side of the house awaiting a backordered gasket from my local crappy honda dealer.I joined up just to answer your question.Ive been looking at my VIN# for yearsThe bike was made 10/97 its an 98 model the last six digits are what counts.Mine are 000518.The first two are the model run..00=1998 up to 80=2006 the last four are order made.Theres another site where you can register by VIN# The 1998-00-bikes end at 8008 the 1999-10-ends at 4727....2000-20-ends at 3481....30-2247.....40-872....50-1029.....60-1021.....70-381....80-134..... So having used all my brain power up Im going too round up and squint my eyes and say 22,497 Super hawks were made.Theres no way it could be 450,000 Thats crazy talk, that would mean 20 million CBR600's Any ways thats my guess and you can quote me on it (all disclaimers apply)..............

Inderocker you have a 95? your first two numbers would be-(70)-Mine are 000518 on a 98 year bike

inderocker 05-11-2008 12:03 PM

95?.... 2005

VTRsurfer 05-16-2008 08:47 PM

Low VIN

Mine is 00028 with mfg date of 12/04. I bought it new in August 05 and they were so unpopular my dealer wouldn't even get one for me to look at until I paid a $500 deposit. I went to another dealer to sit on one and check the ergos before giving my deposit, it was 00022.

VTRsurfer 05-16-2008 08:50 PM

Oops, thats 700028, '05

You Superhawks guys don't have a VIN number count down to gauge the number of US Superhawks?

Someone should make a thread to find the highest numbers out of each year.

From what we have gathered on the Hawk GT forum is that there were about 4500-5500 US models in total produced (very low number for the big three manufacturers)

doggerman 08-24-2008 09:47 AM

Reading is fundamental. Or maybe I could have been written it better.

cagracer 03-06-2012 09:36 AM

Holy crap!
Wouldn't that make yours the 7th one that rolled off the line?

cagracer 03-06-2012 10:07 AM

I know Iam trying to figure out how many were crash and test bikes before it was made.

cagracer 03-06-2012 10:12 AM

I know it was made in Hamamatsu Japan.

Actually, yes it would... But it's still a year behind the rest of the world... My 97 model was on the road in March 97, with the plate issued the 7'th of March... Meaning it might be a wee bit older, depite having serial 002272...

BTW, the best explanation I have seen for Honda's VIN's for motorcycles are here... VINs

This a grand topic.. I have the 2001, vin# 000249, And just by chance, I went to look at a Basket case S-hawk.. All of the bike was there / in the original owner's possession.. production date 2/97 vin#000249. The poor dear was in parts, and is now being put back to orginal..
I have pictures, can't get the set loaded on the forum..

saige 04-15-2012 03:35 PM

mine is 001942,so that would mean for 97 production, mine was 1,942 model made.
so each production year started a new series of numbers,if i understand this correctly.
